You can overwrite old plugin folder with a new one. Extract the archive and upload it to wp-content/plugins directory via FTP. Accept a notification to overwrite it.

To enable Visual Composer editor go to wp-admin panel > Settings menu > Visual Composer and select content types where VC should be used.

You can use any hosting provider, but please note that php version shouldn’t be less than 5.3 version and allow_url_fopen function should be enabled.
