Cart Add-ons

The Cart Add-ons booster allows you to display relevant product suggestions directly on the cart page — offering extra items, upgrades, services, or impulse buys that customers can add in one click.

💡 This booster is ideal for add-ons, upgrades, extended warranties, or impulse items that require minimal decision-making. It’s a great way to increase average order value without disrupting the checkout flow.

  • Selling electronics? Offer extended warranty or priority support as a one-click add-on.

Template Type #

Choose from multiple layout templates to control how the Cart Add-ons appear.

Minimal – A clean and straightforward design focused on simplicity and functionality. Perfect for stores that prefer a sleek visual approach without unnecessary elements. This template presents additional product information in a clear and user-friendly manner.

Colorful – A vibrant and eye-catching design created to draw attention to additional products in the cart. It uses accent colors to highlight discounts, options, or key elements. Ideal for stores aiming to boost conversions with a visually appealing and engaging style.

💡 The selected template may affect the availability of some display options and elements in the Appearance section.

Appearance #

General

These settings let you control the booster’s visual layout and messaging within the cart page:

Section Title

Sets the main heading for the Cart Add-ons block.
Use it to introduce the suggested items in a friendly, helpful tone (e.g., “You Might Also Like” or “Recommended for Your Cart”).

💡 Tip: It should feel like a helpful nudge, not a hard sell — and align with your store’s voice.

Section Subtitle

Optional secondary text that appears below the title.
Use it to add extra context or explain the benefit (e.g., “Popular add-ons chosen by other customers” or “Grab these before checkout”).

💡 Tip: It helps guide the customer toward quick add-on decisions without interrupting the purchase flow.

Highlight Badge

Displays a small label next to the product or section (e.g., “Popular”, “Limited”, or “Great Deal”).
Use it to emphasize urgency, showcase trending items, or draw attention to special offers.

💡 Tip: Combining a helpful subtitle with a badge can significantly increase engagement with suggested add-ons.

Style

This section allows you to fine-tune the visual appearance of the recommendation block and its elements — no coding required. Customize styles like spacing, colors, fonts, and layout behavior to match your store’s branding.

Here you can adjust:

Layout spacing
(padding and margins)

Container styling
(border radius, border color, background)

Typography
for titles, subtitles, and badges

CTA button colors and fonts

These options allow you to match the booster’s design with your site’s overall branding and UX preferences.

Note: Some style options may vary slightly depending on the selected template.

Filters / Apply to #

This section allows you to define where the booster should appear, by targeting specific products or groups of products using basic filters.

You can control booster visibility using:

All Products

Display the booster on all product pages across your store.

Specific Products

Select individual products manually.

Product Categories

Limit visibility to products belonging to selected categories.

Product Tags

Show the booster for products with matching tags.

Product SKUs

Target specific SKUs for precise control.

Filter Logic (Match Rules)

SalesMax gives you the option to choose how these filters are evaluated:

Match any (OR logic)

The booster will be triggered if the product matches at least one of the selected conditions.

Match all (AND logic)

The booster will only appear if the product matches every selected condition.

💡 Tip: This flexibility allows you to create both broad and highly-specific targeting scenarios depending on your campaign goals.

Products #

This section lets you control how products will be selected and handled inside the booster.

You can choose between few suggestion methods:

Use Related products

This will use WooCommerce Related Products as Upsell products. WooCommerce decides the relation based on products having the same tags or categories.

Use Cross-sell products

This will use the “Cross-sell products” selected under the “Linked Products” section in the product creation page.

Use Upsell products

This will use the “Upsell products” selected under the “Linked Products” section in the product creation page.

Specific products

This will use the following set of products as Upsell products. Use the product search to find and add items.

Additional Product Behavior Options

Once you select the products, you can configure how they behave in the cart:

Cart Item Quantity

Decide whether customers can change the quantity of combo products directly from the cart.

Fixed
The quantity of the suggested product is locked (e.g., always 1).
Customers will not be able to adjust it manually in the cart.

Editable
Allow customers to increase or decrease the quantity of the suggested product directly in the cart.

Sync with main product quantity
Automatically match the quantity of the suggested product to the quantity of the item that triggered the booster logic.
For example, if a customer adds 2 units of a qualifying product, the suggested item will also be added with quantity 2.

💡 Useful for offering flexibility in bundled offers.

Discount Settings #

This section controls whether and how discounts are applied to the products displayed in the booster. You can choose from multiple discount types depending on your campaign strategy — whether you’re promoting bundles, upsells, or volume-based savings.

Discount Type

  • None* – no discount is applied. Products will be shown with their regular price.
  • Fixed Discount – applies a specific discount amount (e.g., $5 off) to each product in the booster.
  • Percentage Discount – applies a percentage-based discount (e.g., 10% off) to each product individually.
  • Free* – makes selected product(s) in the combo completely free (e.g., 100% off). You can apply this to one or more items within the booster. The product will appear in the cart with a $0.00 price.

Note: Available discount options may vary depending on the booster type and its specific configuration.

Example Scenarios

  • Fixed discount: Each add-on gets $3 off — perfect for simple bundles.
  • Percentage discount: 20% off each item — great for add-on accessories.

Visibility

You can configure how the discount is shown on the frontend using badges or price formatting (this is controlled in the display settings).
If a product already has a sale price, you may optionally exclude it from receiving additional discounts.

Via general settings:

Display Conditions #

Most boosters support “conditional visibility” based on order, time, and other parameters. These rules allow you to target very specific use cases, like:

– Show only during business hours (e.g., 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
– Activate only when a product from category “Accessories” is purchased
– Display for users from specific roles (e.g., logged-in customers)

Frontend Result #

Once configured, the Cart Add-ons booster displays a visually integrated block of product suggestions directly on the Cart page.

Customers can browse and add suggested items to their cart with a single click, without leaving the page or disrupting their current order.

Cart Page Preview

When an add-on is added, it appears alongside existing items in the cart like a standard WooCommerce product.

💡 The booster is fully responsive and works seamlessly on both desktop and mobile devices.

Troubleshooting #

If your Cart Add-ons are not showing, check the following:

  • Confirm the booster is enabled
  • Ensure conditions match the current cart state
  • Check if the add-on products are published and in stock
  • Make sure no conflicting plugins or boosters are overriding the cart content
  • Test without caching or page optimization plugins temporarily
  • Try viewing the cart as a guest and logged-in user to verify visibility logic
