Theme updated and I am now not sure - by supersupporter

Hi,

My theme updated and for some reason the theme appearance has defaulted and I am not sure what to do.

I can only assume that the client updated the theme and it reverted the header, I have changed the logo for now, however that is not how it was prior.

This is what it did look like. Take note of header and footer.

Please add this code in custom.css file:
```
.footer {
   background-color: green;
}
.copyright.copyright-1 {
    background-color: grey;
}
.header1 {
    margin-top: 0px;
    margin-bottom: 0px;
    background-color: grey;
}
```
Change color values to yours.

Hi, I have done this and nothing has changed, could this be related to the fact that I am using a child theme. The menu, overall appearance and many things have been reverted to default.

Then please add the code in child style.css file.
Where did you add your style changes code previously?
How did you update the theme?
Did you deleted the previous version and uploaded a new one or just reuploaded theme folder via FTP?

Thanks, let me test, I have no idea how it was updated, the client updated his own site and after that update everything reverted.

Can an update only be done by uploading files? If that is the case then none of us have done any updates and this is just something that happened without any human intervention.

Hello,

Your client could delete the theme via WP Dashboard in Appearance > Themes and upload a new version via Dashboard too. This way all style customizations are lost.
So to update the theme you need follow this instruction:
