Is ModSecurity enabled now?
Massive Addons plugin support told us that sometimes such problems are related to FastCGI / mod_security server configuration.

“Both modules have a property to limit the maximum length of input/output strings.
For FastCGI, you would need to adjust this value: FcgidMaxRequestLen 10485760
For mod_security, SecResponseBodyLimit 10485760

I suppose that you would need to ask hosting provider to adjust those settings in configuration.”

Also, keep PHP Memory limit 256Mb.

1) You are using WordPress and it is created by php files instead of simple HTML, so contact the plugin author and make clear in what area you need to add your code if you use WP.

2) Explain in more details about categories in the menu? Don’t you see them in backend or frontend?

Portfolio item takes bg color from the active color that you set in theme options. You may disable it
