The problem is caused by the latest version of Ultimate VC Addons plugin. We’ll fix it in the next theme update. Meanwhile you can add background image with functionality of Visual Composer plugin http://storage5.static.itmages.com/i/15/1022/h_1445518246_8730990_e04c1cb2ab.png .

There is Internal Server Error in Chrome console of your site:

This is related to server configuration. So you need to ask your hosting provider to investigate this issue. Also you can try to change theme renaming the folders in wp-content/themes directory. You’ll see site isn’t working with other themes too, so the problem isn’t related to our theme.

Also seems like all changes I’m trying to make to the site files, aren’t taking effect. For example I tried to change database name in wp-config.php file, so your site should display error “Can’t establish database connection”, but there wasn’t any error.

Did you create a new database for a new site? You should use new database and just import database back up from your old site.

Sorry, this issue is related to hosting provider, not to the theme.

Please create custom sidebar in Appearance > Widgets and add it to Widgetised Sidebar element in Static Block. It won’t be shown in sidebar, because you only create custom area for widgets.

You’ve added a widget to “Footer 1” area in Appearance > Widgets. Remove it.
The widget isn’t shown on home page because you selected custom footer for it in the page editor http://storage1.static.itmages.com/i/15/1022/h_1445506369_5986341_7a9cfe3e9c.png .

Our theme may use more memory than others because of different features and plugins that are implemented in the theme.
It would be better upgrade to VPS or add more memory limit value to get the issue fixed.
