    Hi Rose

    Thanks for that. I know that I can use static blocks for description content of Categories. It’s just shows up under the header. I will look for ways to achieve this by way of CSS.

    Please can someone address my other concern in the Private Content area of my last post? Just a privacy issue.

    Update…

    I’ve worked out what to do. On the offline site, whilst editing the Home Page header, I did a second export. Then on the live site, create a Home Page header in Multiple Headers, and whilst editing the new Home Page Header, was able to import the Home Page header from the offline export .json file.

    Hope this helps others.

    Please close ticket if this is the correct method. 🙂

    Hello Hung The

    Thanks for your response. 🙂 I really appreciate it.

    I saw these settings, but they do not change the space between timeline items further down, only seem to change the top two. You will notice that the vertical gap between items 3 and 4, then gaps between 5 and 6 remains the same. So it follows that the Vertical Items Gap setting does not affect all timeline items. Maybe this is a bug? The change you made did not do anything further down, same as when I tried.

    Please read Private Content area about the last screenshot.

    Hello Rose

    Thanks for the updated CSS code, which as worked. 🙂

    2) for the numbered section on the Our Story page, the numbers 1 and 2 have nice spacing between them. However, lower down, there is a large gap to number 3. Both 3 and 4 are too close together. Then there is a large gap to numbers 5 and 6 which are also too close together. I hope this makes a bit more sense?

    Noted and understood… I will create separate posts for separate issues.

    Also, you will notice that I added a thin grey line under the breadcrumb text. It would be nice in future to be able to add borders and control margins of the breadcrumbs from with the theme options, rather than us having to use css to do this. if you view the breadcrumbs on the Our Story page, you will see the line I am referring to. It fits quite well underneath.

    Hi Rose

    Thanks for providing that. I copied the css into my Customer CSS. I’m still having a problem.

    The text I put in the static block is so far inwards now, it looks centred when it should be left-aligned to the usual edge of the page. I’m sure this site has the 1170px width, so don’t think that is a problem.

    I’ve included the site credentials in the private area.

    The page I am currently working on is ‘Our Story’. It uses the static block that I labelled, ‘Banner Our Story’. [block id=”9549″]

    If I can fix this page, I can create banners for all the other pages and posts to match it.

    two other things. On the Our Story page, I imported the Our Values section from another demo and changed the text and numbering so far. you will notice that the numbering and text next to the numbers on that page are not distributed vertically evenly. I tried various things, but don’t know what settings I can change to make those numbers line up vertically nicely. Do you have an idea please?

    One last issue is that the banner for the Shop page can only be controlled from the theme options, and selecting a static block from within the Shop page does not place a banner above the Breadcrumbs, as with other pages and posts. Is it possible to place the Shop and product category descriptions above the breadcrumbs, so the Shops pages and category match other pages?

    I am able to use the [block] code in category description text area to create banners, but they appear below the breadcrumbs, as with the Shop page banner.

    Hi Rose

    I separated the two dropdown menus as you said by creating an additional Custom Sidebar and moving one of the two widgets into the new sidebar. This solution worked.

    However I did have to solve an additional problem. The dropdown in the new custom sidebar started showing a border around it. I previously had the following custom css to hide borders in dropdowns in the header:

    /* settings for the selection tool in top bar */
    .topbar-widget select {
        border: none !important;
    }

    I had to change it to this for it to work with the select widget in the custom sidebar:-

    /* settings for the selection tool in top bar also including custom sidebar widget */
    .topbar-widget select, .et_b_header-widget select {
        border: none !important;
    }

    I hope that helps others with the same issue. Thanks for your help! Please close this ticket.

    Hi Rose

    I updated XStore to 6.2.1 and XStore core plugin to 1.5.1. I was able to edit the Header Builder for the Home Page and save OK now. The words “Widget 2” have now disappeared.

    Many thanks for your help! Please close this ticket.

    Hi Rose

    Thank you very much, that worked for both!

    One last thing for this site… On the top bar left-hand side, I enabled a separator for the connection block to separate the currency and language drop-down menus. However, the separator is displayed in white, the same colour as the background. Where do I find the setting for separator colour? I can’t find where to set it at all?

    *EDIT* and for future reference, how to I enable to the Top Panel dropdown in the top bar? Can’t find a setting for this either?

    Hi Hung The

    Please see the ‘private content’ area for login credientials.

    I have completed changing over to the new Header Builder for this site. In additional to my original problem, one strange thing that is also happening now, is when I click on any page that is not the Home Page, the text for the entire page turns bold. This is only since I change the header over to Header Builder. I can’t see any setting that has caused this. Maybe this is a bug?

    Note – that although the original demo I used was the Finance theme variant, I have created my own header for this site, loosely based on the original Electron 2 header with different menu and colours.

    Update…

    I am still updating my sites to v6.x and converting all the headers to the new Header Builder method. Once I complete all that, I will come back to this issue. As of now, the page css .home-icons-wrapper still does not do anything.

    I’ll return here when I’ve done all the conversions.

    Update, I put padding 35px in the bottom of the WPBakery column and that seems to have made it look better for now.

    Hi again
    This is the absolute last query for this site, as its finished and made live today.

    On the bottom of the Fashion demo, when first imported are two Menu’s in the footer area (static block). The top menu was created with a [8Theme] menu element, whist the lower menu was originally made with some HTML code.

    I deleted the code for the lower menu, replacing it with the [8Theme] menu element like the one above it. I had to include some css to change the li font size, spacing, and right-border to match the original HTML menu. The result looks good, but the problem is that this menu is no longer vertically aligned in its area of the footer anymore and seems to sit close to the bottom of the page.

    I will include login details for you to take a look in the private content area. Any suggestion how to make this menu automatically sit in the middle of the row would be helpful. I wanted to avoid using blank space or margins in case it looked different on different devices. The row already has been aligned to the centre vertically. I have no idea why this menu isn’t vertically centered and the one above it is?

    Thanks for considering my suggestion. I will post to the XStore Features thread in future.

    Also, many thanks for the PSDs. The new site is almost finished already.

    … following on from my last message…

    please, can I have the PSDs for the new Fashion demo? On the Home page and About us pages are tiled areas containing images with text which I would like to be able to edit. On the Home Page, one image is a black image with white text, and another is a picture with text saying “TREND 2019”.

    If you have these preferably as Illustrator files, then if not PSDs?

    Thank you very much Olga and Rose for all your suggestions. The footer area is now looking like the demo, and I managed to also change the banner area for the Shop page.

    What I would like to see is the possibility in future for me to change the banner area for all pages and posts, with the ability to choose different static blocks for each page and post for XStore. Another one of the themes I use has this feature for all pages and posts, and I find it very useful. Please see private content to a link to one of my sites with another theme.

    The other things I’d like to be able to do as per the site you see in the private content is the option to be able to place the banner static block above the breadcrumbs text… same as my example. Please read private content for the description of what I mean with example pages. Do you think that this could be a feature your developers could include in a future version of XStore? In my humble opinion, it looks cool on my example site.

    UPDATE

    I only carried out step 2) of your three suggestions. For the fashion demo, the import of options.dat appears to have worked. There are a few minor problems which I will list below:-

    Issue 1) In the static block, “Footer – Fashion”, there are two menu’s. The top one uses the element [8Theme Menu]. On my site, the spacing between menu items is not right, it appears much less space between menu items. How can I adjust the spacing between menu items, please?

    Issue 2) In the bottom menu in this static block, its created by HTML code, not the [8Theme Menu] element. My menu for some reasons appears vertically, not horizontally as in the demo on your site. How do I change this to match the demo?

    Issue 3) On the Sop page of your demo, the header background image is found below the breadcrumbs, but above the page content. On my site, I had to upload the image using ‘featured image’ in the Shop page. However, the image shows behind the breadcrumbs, not below it. I have looked through the Theme Options, but I can’t find a setting to control where this background image is displayed. Please, can you assist?

    Hi Olga

    Thanks for responding.

    You mentioned two solutions, however, you listed three parts altogether: 1), 2) & 3). I am uncertain if parts 2) and 3) are seperate solutions or two stages of the same second solution? This is confusing. I’m going on the assumption that parts 2) and 3) should be executed together…

    I altered the file class-cei-core.php, and commented out the code in your screenshot; this bit was easy enough to do. I am having trouble understanding your instructions for part 3) in which you describe changing something in phpmyadmin.

    I logged into phpmyadmin for the site’s database.
    I did a search in the database for the text “theme_mods_”. There were two results with option names that match in the search result:

    theme_mods_twentynineteen
    and
    theme_mods_mythemename-child

    I am not sure what to do from here, or if doing a search is what I needed to do at this stage. Please can you provide a video or provide more step-by-step instructions for the phpmyadmin stage?

    Robert

    Hi
    Sorry, I didn’t get an email informing me that you had responded.

    I already purchased 8 licenses for XStore. This issue means that I am unlikely to purchase any more licenses if it prevents me from importing a demo. I absolutely will not have xstore as a path in the wp-content directory, as my clients and their competitors will see the theme used. I know for a fact that many others will feel the same way about having to include the theme name in the directory path. it is preferable to have the clients’ site name in the path instead.

    Now you mentioned that “it has some limits like the theme name”. Is this the theme name declared in the styles.css file? What about the template name and folder name? Are these off-limits when changing also? I can keep the Theme name the same, but need to change that folder name, this is the main point.

    I will look at your suggestions over the weekend and come back to you.

    Regards
    Robert

    … update from my previous message…

    I edited the options.dat file and changed the line first part of the file from

    a:4:{s:8:"template";s:6:"xstore";

    to

    a:4:{s:8:"template";s:6:"mythemename";

    I now get this new error:
    Error importing settings! Please check that you uploaded a customizer export file.

    Not sure what is happening, but it simply won’t import the options.dat file.

    Thanks for responding.

    I downloaded the import files for v6.1.2. I then attempted to import the options.dat file for Fashion demo. I got the error message: “Error importing settings! The settings you uploaded are not for the current theme.“.

    Is this because I changed the theme folder name?

    Hi Olga

    1) The issue with the thumbnails not showing up as squares disappeared after I posted… not sure how long after. I can only guess that the thumbnails had not properly generated when I added the Instagram username to the 8theme widget.

    2) Just to test what you were saying, I created a temporary site with a legacy version of XStore, version 5.6. I ensured that the XStore core that came with 5.6 was installed, 8theme Core Plugin for Xstore v1.3.2. I was right, the 8theme Instagram widget works without a user on this older version, and all is needed is a hashtag. This confirms that it is not Instagram that is blocking the use of hashtags without a username, it is something that has changed with the 8theme Instagram widget in this latest version. I can provide you with login details to the temporary site if you do need proof?

    Hi

    Its already turned on. I have not changed this setting. I am starting to wonder if its the plugin I mentioned, Epic News Elements plugin, which might be affecting post meta settings. I may have to contact that plugin author for support.

    Thanks for the suggestion anyway. I’ll report back if I discover the cause is that plugin.

    kind regards

    … note that the site I mentioned that does show the dates, it doesn’t show the author name at the top whilst the other does. This seems strange.
