Problem came back and now I have managed to resolve it:
When you have the same problem you probably use a cache plugin. In my case it is the WP Fastest Cache plugin. There’s a workaround at http://www.wpfastestcache.com/tutorial/visual-composer-post-grid-problem/ which solves the problem. 🙂
The problem is back for me. When I’m logged in the VC loads without problems. When I’m logged out the VC is not loading. Serious issue.

Managed to get working again by disabling all plugins and enable VC (5.3) first. Everything works now again.
