We did not get reports about such problem before, and our theme doesn’t have anything that may cause such issue.
Check how it works when a default theme, like Storefront, is activated on your site.
Try to disable 3rd party plugins and check then, maybe one of the plugins caused the duplication.
Contact your hosting provider and ask about assistance. Maybe the server error log will give a hint.
