    Hi Olga

What’s the Surge plugin? We don’t have a plug in with that name?

    Many thanks

Hey Franked! I am on WP version 5.7.3 and with the previous version of the theme and the previous version of Woocommerce it is working fine. Only when I updated theme, core and woocommerce did it start failing. The front end of the site just would not load to begin with, then the shipping options all disappeared and I had this weird issue when they returned where the cart would not update unless you refreshed the page.

What issues did you have out of interest?

    Hi Olga

The shipping options came back but there was a strange issue whereby if you tried to update something in the cart (add or remove an item) it would not update unless you refreshed the page.

There was an issue with the AJAX request that caused a 503 error – this is down to some kind of broken php script.

We have ended up having to revert to a backup from last Tues 28th September. The only things updated that day were the Woocommerce version to the latest, and the Xstore theme to the latest version, and Xstore core plugin. So there must be some conflict somewhere.

Is the newest version of the theme from 24th September compatible with the newest version of Woocommerce (5.7.1)?

    Hi Olga

The server say it is a theme issue. What´s more, the shipping options have now disappeared from Woocommerce checkout page. I reverted to a backup of the website from yesterday with version 8.0.7. Is there a known conflict with Woocommerce or the Woocommerce Table Rate Shipping plugin?

    Many thanks

    Hi Olga

Before the update we had version 8.0.6 which is what is currently installed.

Yes we use a child theme too.

FTP details here in the private area.

    Hi Olga

The logins are definitely correct I just tried it myself and got in fine.

I have noticed that since the last theme updates, all the filters on the shop pages have disappeared.

In our Widgets section we have the Shop sidebar set to have four filters by product price, then x 3 product attributes (artist, genre, format) – see screenshot: https://prnt.sc/1mbydpn

However though they still appear as set up in the backend, there is now nothing showing on the front end: https://prnt.sc/1mbz4rf

Is there any reason this would be? We rely on these filters for people to search product.

    Many thanks
    Lauren

Through cPanel you can quite easily go to file manager and access via there. I don’t know why the FTP is not working but I get the impression you are reluctnat to be of any help here – I have a boss really annoyed about the fact that your update has broken our homepage and we are losing business.

You should be able to see from all the info and error messages I have provided what the conflict is at any case.

I can’t waste much more time, please provide an answer to the load of js errors that are attributed to your theme.

Also please provide your IP address so I can let the hosts know – although it is working fine for me, them and everyone else who has the same logins.

    Thanks

    Hi Rose

No there isn’t a restriction on it – can you try via cPanel? Logins in private area.

Below are all the errors showing in console when I inspect these areas on the homepage where the VC 8theme widgets should be:

    Hi

Is there a solution to this issue with your 8theme VC widgets please?

Our homepage cherryred.co.uk is still not pulling in Blog images, nor Products or Banner with mask items in the spaces I have indicated in my screenshots.

    Many thanks

    Hi Olga

    1. The problem is I have already fixed the 3 examples I have been sent by replacing all the apostrophes and speechmarks in text editor, so the problem doesn’t persist on those pages (this was one: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/the-toy-dolls-the-albums-1983-87-5cd-box-set/). It seems to happen on some and not others – and of the 4000+ products we have I have no way of knowing if there are more until someone stumbles across one.

    2) I think probably because you enabled pay cash on delivery – whereas the customers in question are having an issue with cards or paypal.

Also I have just noticed something else that has gone wrong since yesterday’s theme update: On our front page, there are sections where I have used 8theme WordPress Bakery/VC modules for Products, Blog and Banner With Mask – which now are not showing:

    Products:
    Back End 8theme Widget: https://prnt.sc/10tf31r
Front End Products Not Showing: https://prnt.sc/10tfb5h

Blog: (shows but the date overlaps the title)
    Back End: https://prnt.sc/10tf4ct
    Front End Overlapping: https://prnt.sc/10tfb5h

    Banner With Mask:
    Back End 8theme Widget: https://prnt.sc/10tf571
    Front End Widget Missing: https://prnt.sc/10tfeu8

If you look at the front end printscreens you’ll see none of these elements appear except Blog but with the aforementioned glitches.

I have the latest version of WP Bakery (6.6)

    Cheers
    Lauren

    Hi Rose

My developer figured it out – we were using the product widget in a news post and it was causing an infinite loop as we think the news widget was trying to pull it in as the excerpt. If we set manual excerpt it fixes it.

    Hi Olga

Sorry its taken a while to look into this. It is impossible for us to know what action is causing these errors since at any given moment there are hundreds of customers all browsing and adding things to cart.

That said – we just noticed another error code on the site which appears on every product page on the TRACKLIST tab:

Notice: id was called incorrectly. Product properties should not be accessed directly. Backtrace: require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), require_once(‘wp-includes/template-loader.php’), include(‘/themes/xstore/woocommerce/single-product.php’), wc_get_template_part, load_template, require(‘/themes/xstore/woocommerce/content-single-product.php’), do_action(‘woocommerce_after_single_product_summary’), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, woocommerce_output_product_data_tabs, wc_get_template, include(‘/themes/xstore/woocommerce/single-product/tabs/tabs.php’), wpb_new_product_tab_content, WC_Abstract_Legacy_Product->__get, wc_doing_it_wrong Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.0.) in /home/cherryredco/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4986

This looks like a discrepancy between the theme product template and WC?

    Many thanks
    Lauren

Have you updated the woocommerce order export plugin? As now all our order export chron jobs have stopped and our orders are not going through to our fulfilment people. It said it has just been updated and it wasn’t me….

    Hi Olga

These fatal errors are in the error log on the site which you can see if you go to Woocommerce > Status > Logs. There are loads of them. I don’t think it is anything I am doing particularly!

    Hi Olga

That seemed to solve that small issue, however with the latest update now we are getting more fatal errors with regards the et-core plugin, which seems to be having an effect on other plugins, namely our Mailchimp for Woocommerce plugin.

The developers of the Mailchimp for Woocommerce plugin have asked me to send the below errors to you to investigate what’s happening so they can work out why it is killing off the Mailchimp plugin, which at present won’t even activate:

    Hi Olga

Will check variable product thing. However there are still other code errors on the site which are xstore framework related, such as this one:

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘message’ in /home/cherryredco/public_html/wp-content/themes/xstore/framework/theme-functions.php on line 1796

Hey Olga, I still get the issue even with Storefront theme. We have correct WP Memory limit in wp-config, I’ve checked admin-ajax file permissions and they are fine, and my developer doesn’t seem to think it is a JS issue.

Do you know if there is any conflict with theme / widgets and the new version of VC?

Thank you! I’ve also noticed another issue now I have updated the theme to the latest version and also updated VC – none of the visual composer elements work. If you try and add a Woo Produt, or Button, or any other widget in VC view to a page, you just get constant Connection Errors –

    Here’s an example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qb2j6lx7r9slbsv/Product_Widget_VC.tiff?dl=0

Any idea what might be causing that?

We upgraded our server resources and optimised or DB, deleting loads of old content, so I don’t think it can be the server or DB, since we never had the VC issue even before we cleared out the site and ramped up the RAM and CPU?

    Cheers!

Thanks Laranz – back to the original problem, for some reason suddenly, we are getting a weird box pop up that wants me to enter a password etc when we try and visit the website.

“To view this page, you must log in to captainoi.devserver4.co.uk:80.”

Did your tech team add any password protection to FTP / files etc?

Hi Olga, I think it seems to be ok now, just checking through the products.

Was it something to do with the child theme?

Theo only thing I can see now is a problem with the SEO info for sharing meta on social media. We are using Yoast plugin and you can see the source code is showing og:image, og:title etc here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/f2f7cqhyksyiht6/sourcecode.tiff?dl=0

However, When I try and scrape this into facebook debugger, it doesn’t pull in the info. In fact it has a completely different og:image:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/egoqt8siukpys1o/debugger.tiff?dl=0

Any idea, is this a conflict with Yoast?

    Many thanks for your help!

Hi again Laranz, an update – if I activate default 2017 theme and check the product pages the problem is gone. When I reactivate 8theme Xstore, the problem is back. There must be something to do with the theme that’s causing this?

    Hi Laranz

I’ve tried switching to parent theme and problem persists, also tried disabling every plugin except core XStore plugin and woocommerce and it still persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have tried recreating the product and it still happens!

Could it be something with database / hardcoding the product? It’s a total mystery to me.

    Hi Olga

I had our developer look at the child theme code and fix the mini cart issue.

However since that, another issue has occurred. It seems that there is some conflict with the Woocommerce Order XML Export Suite:

    https://woocommerce.com/products/customerorder-xml-export-suite/

Up until this, our orders have always exported automatically every 5 mins to FTP so that they can be picked up by our fulfilment company. Since this, orders are exporting but sitting in a queue and not automatically going to FTP. I have tested all the FTP connections with the plugin and it is fine – it also works if I do it manually.

Any idea what can be causing this? I have spoken to Woocommerce support and they have suggested a conflict with the theme.

    Many thanks
    Lauren

Hi there, sure, logins included in the hidden section. Many thanks for your help with this.

I’ve also found another issue. When I have the Woocommerce Dynamic Pricing & Discounts plugin enabled, the cart and on-hover min cart in the header get messed up / show as blank. As soon as I disable it, it shows the products and cart fine again.

Would you be able to take a look and see if it is something in the theme code that is causing a glitch with it?

    Many thanks!
