    Hello,

Yes, I mean changing the email address for my account here on the 8theme website.

Thank you for the quick reply! Adjusting the display settings did indeed fix the vertical text issue.

I will test the code snippet at a later time.

Thank you. I installed the new version in production, and I have not received an error message. I think this issue is solved.

    Hello,

Please see the private content area. Note, that the issue occured on the staging site where I was testing new updates. The production site is not updated yet.

Additional consideration: I did not have the site in maintenance mode when I deleted the old theme directory and uploaded the new directory. Could the few seconds when there was no theme directory trigger the error message that I received?

Thank you for the response! It was very helpful, indeed.

I have an additional question: There are some plugins that Royal uses (Redux, Revslider) that also indicated some compatibility warnings with PHP 8.0 (see private content area). I understand that these are not your products, but can you say if these issues have caused any problems when using Royal on PHP 8.0?

    Hello!

Thank you for checking the site status. I do not see old template files anymore, either. It was probably a cache issue after the update, even though I did refresh with shift+F5. I’m glad that it is in order now. I will update the production and see if the same happens there as well.

Yes, please get back to me whether the Redux templates are needed by the Royal theme or not. Thank you for your help 🙂

    Hello!

Thank you for getting back to me. Private content area contains login information now.

Enabling old widgets panel fixed the widget area issue. Thanks!

When has the required plugins page been updated? Royal has needed Redux framework for a long time but the Redux framework plugin has always included the template library, too. Now Redux plugin does not include the templates anymore – it’s a new thing. Does the Royal theme require the Redux templates? (I am guessing that it doesn’t need them but I want to make sure)

    Hello,

I see! The download section had the same 6.3.8 version number and showed that it had been updated in February, so I didn’t know you had updated the theme there.

Now I updated the production site successfully. Thank you for the help!

    Hello,

If I delete the old theme folder and re-upload the new theme folder, it will replace the init.php that you have fixed. Please clarify, how can I update production to the new theme version without overwriting the fixed file.

Do I copy the init.php from the staging site and paste it to production after uploading the new theme version?

    Hello!

I am glad to hear it! But I rolled the production site back to theme version 6.3.3 before I contacted you, and the problem occured only when 6.3.8 was used.

So, how can I update production to 6.3.8 and get the bug fix implemented?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply!

To be clear, if you fix the problem on the staging site, how will we implement the fix to the production site?

Should I make credentials to the production site instead, and would you like to update the theme again yourself there? Or do you want to investigate the problem on the staging site first?

I only received the notification from WordPress when I updated the theme in production.

Please let me know, which site’s access (production or staging) you need.

    Hi,

Thank you for the replies. The enqueuing code you provided lost connection to my child theme css, so I left it as it was.

I have a follow-up question, however: In addition to the royal theme and royal-child theme (active), there is a “verkkolahja.fi (KMS update)” theme in the wordpress appearance menu. Its version is listed as 2.52 and it has the royal theme thumbnail picture. It is not active and it doesn’t show up in the themes folder via FTP. I don’t know what it is – Is it made by 8theme – or has perhaps a previous developer that I have hired created it for some reason? Do you recognize such a theme’s purpose? Do you think it’s OK to remove it?

There is also another theme that only shows up via FTP connection, called “royal-updated”. It has a last modified time stamp in 2016. Do you recognize such a theme and do you think it’s OK to remove it?

I removed both themes on my staging site and everything seems to run without problems. I just want to make sure that those themes don’t serve any purpose that you know about.

    Hello,

Is the enqueuing of the stylesheets wrong in my child theme functions.php? (see the private content area) Should I change it to what is used in your royal-child template?

    Hello,

Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy but I am just getting around to updating now. Thank you for your reply! I have not made the child theme modifications myself, so I have to look into the code and make comparisons to the parent theme file codes.

One question: If there is a file in the child theme, does that file override the file with the same name in the parent theme completely, or does it add its functionalities to the parent theme file (i.e. are both files are used by the site)?

    Thank you for your reply!

I have a child theme. Last time I updated via FTP by overwriting the old theme folder with the new one. That method left some old files and references to them which caused some problems (which you fixed later).

Is there a better way to update the theme when using a child theme?

    Hello again,

I see that Royal 6.3.3 is out now. Does the new version still support the ThemeForest limited license? I’m still using that on the live site. I also have the license from the 8theme unlimited bundle, so should I switch the license key to that one? Is there something special I need to do when switching license codes?

    Hello,

Just checking in: Is the Royal theme update coming soon? I can only see the old 6.3.2 in my downloads library.

Okay, I will wait for the theme update, run it and the WooCommerce update on my site, and then you can fix the outdated template files if they are not replaced by new ones with the update.

I will chime in here when all is ready!

Since yesterday, the new WooCommerce version is now 5.7. Does Royal work with that WooCommerce version? As soon as I get the green light from you, I will update it and then you can update the WooCommerce template files. Is that OK by you? Or does Royal work with all WooCommerce versions by default?

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply! I think it might be safer if I update WooCommerce first before you update the theme templates, so that you don’t have to do it again after the WC update.

So, is Royal compatible with WooCommerce 5.6? Is it OK for me to update WC?

    Hello again,

The issue resolved by itself: The translation is now visible. I don’t know what happened because I had also tried clearing the browser cache but it had no effect earlier.

I’m happy that the translation works now. This topic may be closed.

    Hello,

Yes, I had updated the theme manually a couple of months ago. Now the translations work normally, thank you very much!

    Hello,

Yes, I have translated the Royal theme in Loco Translate but those unstranslated strings are not found there by Loco Translate.

Our hosting provider checked and confirmed that the orders’ source code references both wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/templates/checkout/thankyou.php and wp-content/themes/royal/woocommerce/checkout/thankyou.php

Only the strings that come from the WooCommerce thankyou.php are translated. Because the untranslatable strings come from Royal thankyou.php it doesn’t translate them. Loco Translate seems to prefer the WooCommerce version.

So how can we make the orders refer to only one thankyou.php instead of two? And if we use the theme’s template, how can we point it to Loco Translate? Our hosting provider said that using WooCommerce’s template would be better for updates (and Loco already uses that as its source).
