I’ve added the following code to custom.css file to change background color of the top bar:

.header-type-6 .top-bar {
    background-color: #BD9017;
}

You can add a link to Contact page in Appearance > Widgets > add Text widget with the code <a href="link_to_your_contact_page">Contact us</a> to “Place in header top bar” widget area.
Also you can find the code for social media icons on the help pages of social websites where you have accounts.

You didn’t select your favicon in Theme Options > Header. I’ve done it and the favicon is being shown now.
Please check and clear browser cache before.

If you did everything the same as described in the documentation http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes then you did it correctly.
Maybe previously some changes had been made in the original files and that’s why you had lost them after update.
If the changes are made in a child theme now then you won’t lose them again.

Concerning the error, as you can see it’s related to the plugin because the error shows a path to the file where the problem appears – wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-cart-tab. So you need contact plugin author regarding this.

As I see product categories have image banner. Could you please specify what categories don’t have it?
