Variation Gallery Issue – Main product image always appears with all variations ruining aesthetic

    Hello,

    I am seeing an issue with the variation gallery which I cannot seem to get around right now.

    I have four variation images assigned to a variation of a product, and the main product photo. If i select this variation it shows five images, the main product photo and the four variation images.

    Is there a way I can have the main image seen when browsing all products, and only the four variation images shown when browsing the product directly?

    Hi Rose,

    Thank you for the quick reply.

    Unfortunately option 1 doesn’t work as this will display all images including all colour variations no matter what variation is actually selected.

    Option 2 is exactly what I am looking for and has worked almost perfectly.
    I now have the main product image and three image in the main product gallery so four images are shown in total when the product is first selected.
    I then have one main variation photo and three additional photos for each variation.

    I am now getting a bug with adding a video. On the product’s page it loads for about a second and then disappears. This occurs only on firefox by the looks of it.

    Lastly
    – Is it possible to have a different video for each variation of the product?
    – Is it possible to enable video looping/disable controls?

    I can confirm that the demo page works, and also my own site when not enabling variation gallery, as it looks like is not set on the demo site?

    If possible I would like to avoid server/FTP access unless there is no other choice, sorry…

    You did not provide even wp-admin access, so we can’t check settings of the product.

    We would like to inform you that when the Variation Gallery is enabled on the product page, the product will only display the Variation Image Gallery and not the product video and product gallery simultaneously.

    This is a default functionality of the Variation Gallery option. If you would like to request a change to this, you can post it to our taskboard at https://www.8theme.com/taskboard/, and our development team will be able to review it.

    Hi Rose,

    We would like to inform you that when the Variation Gallery is enabled on the product page, the product will only display the Variation Image Gallery and not the product video and product gallery simultaneously.

    I have this error issue when first opening the product, thereby showing the product gallery and video. Before clicking on a variation to then switch to a variation. I should be able to view the product gallery and the video still right? Then once a variation is selected see the variation images only?

    I have included FTP and wp-admin access in the private area if you would be kind enough to take a further look.

    Hi Rose,

    Unfortunately it appears the same thing is still happening.

    Also worth mentioning if a variation is selected, then the ‘clear’ button is pressed. The video also does not return.

    Hi Rose,

    Unfortunately the video does disappear. I have also confirmed on multiple devices. You will need to refresh the page more than once as sometimes it loads, sometimes it does not. I have included another video in the private content area show a good amount of refreshes showing it loading and not loading randomly.

    Hi Rose,

    Thank you for the update, I appreciate the teams commitment to resolve these bugs.

    Additionally I have also noticed when one of the images is clicked to enlarge, two popups are actually presented. You must click the background twice in order to close both of them.

    This appears to be another bug, and I don’t know if it could potentially be related to the intermittent video disappearing bug also?

    I have included a video to showcase that stated above.

    Please edit any page using Elementor page builder > go to Site settings > Lightbox > Image Lightbox > disable OR Single Product Builder > Gallery > disable Lightbox. You need to disable one of the mentioned lightboxes.

    Hi Rose,

    Just digging around myself now it appears the issue is completely resolved if I disable PayPal as a payment options, so it does not get displayed on the single product page.

    Re-enabling immediately causes the issue to reappear.

    Disabling PayPal as a payment option and removing the additional code added to functions.php also resolves the issue completely.

    I hope this assists in the teams fix of the issue, since the ability to use PayPal is quite an integral part of WooCommerce.

    I have ended up switching over to these plugins which work flawlessly without causing this video bug.
    – Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce
    – Select Payment Plugins for PayPal WooCommerce
