Yes, as mentioned a serveral times: I know that I have to edit the .po file and not the .pot. But for updating the strings after an update (there may be new strings), I need the .pot file. That is what is written on this page (http://betterwp.net/wordpress-tips/create-pot-file-using-poedit./), that you refer to in your documentation.
But if you say that it is the same, maybe I could rename the .po to .pot and then use the “update from .pot-file” in poedit (this works only with .pot files!).
Or what way would you suggest to keep my translations up to date, means to scan for new strings after an update?
My site is not yet online, but whatever you would like to know, I can tell you or send screenshots. I know, that I have to edit the .po file. But when you add new strings, I need the .pot file to use poedit’s function “Update from .pot-fil”…So, what would you like to check?
I quote your documentation:
The translation file default.pot you can find in Languages_PO_files folder in theme package
-> it is NOT there
Read here how to do it right.
–> refers to a page that says:
Updating a .po (and .mo) file
Another task of a translator is to update a .po file whenever a particular project has just been updated with more strings to translate, or even obsolete ones. To update your .po file, again navigate to Catalog, but this time choose ‘Update from POT file’, and then choose the .pot file from which you would like to get updated contents. Next, translate the project as you would normally do and save all changes.
Of course, I know how to edit the .po file but I definitely need the POT file to update the strings after a theme update!
Hello,
and how can I update the theme without losing my translation and at the same time updating the strings? In your documentation you write that you need the .pot file and you link to this page (http://betterwp.net/wordpress-tips/create-pot-file-using-poedit./) where is written:
“Another task of a translator is to update a .po file whenever a particular project has just been updated with more strings to translate, or even obsolete ones. Dear Brian,
thank you, but the problem is that in this folder there are only the .po and the .mo file. But I read everywhere that I need the default.pot to update the translation and this file is missing.
And by the way: I always check the “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” here but I never get a notification. This worked some months ago, but not anymore. My mailaddress is correct…
Just compared with the original cart.php of woocommerce: the cart.php of the royal theme has the cart-totals section twice. There is
<?php woocommerce_cart_totals(); ?>
and
<?php do_action( 'woocommerce_cart_collaterals' ); ?>
So I guess that I can just delete <?php woocommerce_cart_totals(); ?>, right?
Same here. My site is not yet online, but I have the same problem, reuploading brought no change..
Just found this post from ocotber 2014 where you wrote that this is not possible and requires additional customization:
https://www.8theme.com/topic/woocommerce-products-grid-from-vc-does-not-honor-menu_order-sort/
Could you please help us (and other interested person) with this issue?
Any help would be very appreciated!
Same problem here. My code is
[etheme_products type="slider" style="default" categories="51,27"]
and I want that category 51 comes first and is followed by category 27. But it mixes the products. I tried to change my code to
[etheme_products type="slider" style="default" categories="51,27" orderby="title" order="desc"] but no change. Any idea how to define the order? Please note that my site is still on localhost…
Many thanks in advance!
Yeah perfect, that worked! I’ve changed opacity to 1 because I want the text with no transparence and added a rgba-background to footer-product.
Thank you very much, Brian!
Got it, it’s [etheme_products type=”slider” style=”default”] (must be customized)
Sorry, but again: I do not mean my own site, but YOUR DEMO SITE: https://www.8theme.com/demo/royal
As said, its in your demo version: https://www.8theme.com/demo/royal
There is a similar problem in your demo version: When I add something to my cart, the cart widget on the top of the page shows the items and the amount. But when I then click “View cart” it says that my cart is empty and it shows 0 items. When I then add again something, it shows 2 items – the one that I just added and the one that I added before it said that the cart is empty. This problem excists since the update to 1.4…
Thats weird. Seems that the update has set the sidebar option in the page setting to “without”. I changed it again to “left” and all works fine, like before in 1.3. Thank you!
This bug isnt fixed in the just released version 1.4. When will you fix it?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, you’re right, sorry! It was the woocommerce product filter I installed additionally. Thanks again!
Yes, please have a look at the screenshot, it’s in the product list:

message deleted because wrong thread
Ah ok! I tought that after selecting the sidebar position, it would automatically fill the sidebar with default widgets! 🙂 Thank you Eva!!
Dear Robert,
thanks for your soon reply. I know that there is no such feature but I was hoping that you could give me a hint wich template files I have to edit?
Hello. My site is still not online yet. But anyway, this was a general question. You can see what I mean on your demo versions, p.e.: https://www.8theme.com/demo/royal
Dear Eva,
I can’t test it yet because my shop is still offline and in your demo theme, you dont have the master slider but the responsive slider – the only thing that I can say now is that the responsive slider does not make this problem, so I will try to use the responsive slider instead.
Ok thank you eva. I think this issue is really importont as visual composer is such a great feature and the shop page is the most important page of an e-commerce website. So making both working together would be perfect..
Ok, thank you anyway. I just wanted to add that the sliders (revolution slider as well as master slider) don’t work on the shop page. Is the reason the same, that your options dont work at woocommerce pages? Why does in your demo theme/shop page the breadcrumbs work? In my theme the shop page doesnt accept either shortcodes or visual composer elements or any page heading elements like breadcrumbs, thats really a pitty. Could you consider to make your options work on woocommerce pages in the next update? I mean Royal is a woocommerce theme, so that would be pretty reasonable I think..
And another question: Your name sounds german – do you speak german? My german is much better than my english 🙂
Dear eva,
Thank you for testing. Sure, css would be a possibility but i want the page heading only to hide on the shop page, not on all pages..
No sorry, I edit my page on localhost before launching it. But I have a fresh royal & wordpress & woocommerce installation and have made no changes (only some css stuff but nothing that could affect this issue). So I guess that this problem also exists in your demo/test versions – could you please check it out and let me know? This would be great..
I just tried to create a new page and disabled the page heading -> that worked, the heading was not displayed. But as soon as I set this new page as shop page in the woocommerce settings, the heading appears again. so it seams that this has something to do with woocommerce. any suggestions how to solve this problem?
