I’m using the XStore WPBakery Products element to selectively show products from a specific assigned brand on a certain page. This means that in the ‘Product Data’ tab, “Brands” is selected as ‘Taxonomy Type’, and a specific brand is selected under ‘Brands’.

What is then actually shown seems to depend on which navigation parameter is chosen on the ‘General’ tab:
    – With navigation ‘OFF’, only up to 20 products are shown, even if there are more products assigned to this brand! If there’s less than 20 products assigned, it shows them correct, unless there’s no product: it then shows all products in the database rather than none! This is not logical.
    – With navigation on ‘Load More button’ or on “Lazy loading”, more items than 20 are loaded but not limited to only those assigned to the chosen brand, but any product will show. It is as if the Product Data filter is not working correctly.

I really need a solution to ONLY show the products assigned to a specific brand, just like you’d expect from the filter.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello, Mathew,

Sorry for the delay in answering.

Please provide the URL of the page and screenshots for a better understanding of the situation and the desired result.

Lightshot screenshot or Gyazo tool can be used to make screenshots and share the links here, or you can use a file-sharing service such as WeTransfer https://wetransfer.com/ to upload ready photos there and provide us with URLs.

Also, provide wp-admin access, so we can take a closer look. To provide wp-admin access, you can create a new user account with an administrator role via the Dashboard, and provide us with the username and password via the Private Content area.

Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme’s Team

    Hello, Mathew,

    We can’t connect FTP, unfortunately.
Try to connect to FTP using FileZilla by yourself and let us know.
Is there a restriction by IP or something else that doesn’t allow us to connect?

    Kind Regards,
    8theme team

Thanks, that code has solved the behaviour with ‘Load More button’ and ‘Lazy loading’ settings!

Note that on Navigation ‘OFF’ it however still limits itself to showing only 20 products, even though there are more products assigned via the filter. Can this be solved too, to correctly show ALL products selected by the filter?

Please also note for the Blog element: when there’s no post that fits the filtered Category, it now still shows other unrelated posts, instead of no post. Not sure if you already tried to fix this with your code?

    Thanks!

I just found out that on ‘Lazy Loading’ the ‘short descriptions’ I was showing in the grid are only shown on the first 3 items, not anymore on further items. The code will need some further adaption I guess 🙂

    Thanks!

    Hello, Mathew,

    1. To show all products when the navigation option is OFF, under Product Data tab > Limit > please enter -1 number:

    2. Currently, to show excerpt(short description) please navigate to XStore > Theme Options > WooCommerce(Shop) > Shop > Product Designs > Show Excerpt > switch to ON.

Let us know how it goes after you update the options.

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards,

    1) Thanks, setting the limit to -1 indeed solved the (hidden) standard limit of 20 items.

    2) I was familiar with this global setting, and it is intentionally set to ‘OFF’ on my site. However, it’s part of the Products element (General tab > Product content settings) to be able to override this for the custom grid in question. This is very handy and works fine (as you can see) on the ‘Navigation OFF’ and ‘Navigation Load More button’ versions, where every item of the custom grid shows its Excerpt.
On the ‘Lazy loading’ version however, there’s a bug: the first 3 items show the excerpt (as set in this specific Products element), but further lazy loaded products do not, while they should too, following the setting in this Products element to show the excerpt.

    3) You didn’t get back yet on my Blog element related question, so let me explain some more: It is set to filter posts by a Category name, which works fine if there’s at least one post available that is assigned to this Category. But if there’s no post like that, the Blog element shows other unrelated posts rather than none. A bit counter-intuitive and not very practical in my case 🙂

Thanks again for your great help!

    Hello Mathew,

Thank you for reaching out and for your patience.

    1) We’re delighted to hear that setting the limit to -1 resolved the issue with the standard limit of 20 items. It’s always rewarding to find a solution that works perfectly for your needs.

    2) We appreciate your detailed feedback regarding the global setting for the Products element. It’s great to know that the override function is serving you well in the ‘Navigation OFF’ and ‘Navigation Load More button’ versions. Regarding the ‘Lazy loading’ version, we have taken note of the bug you’ve mentioned where only the first three items display the excerpt. Rest assured, our development team is already looking into this, and we aim to have a fix included in one of our upcoming updates.

    3) As for the Blog element issue, we apologize for the oversight. Your additional explanation has been very helpful. The behavior you’ve described, where the Blog element displays unrelated posts when no posts are assigned to a specific category, is indeed not ideal. We’ve applied to the HOTFIX to your website already. Here is the files I’ve edited for the #3:

    – /wp-content/plugins/et-core-plugin/app/controllers/shortcodes/blog-timeline.php line 81:82
    – /wp-content/plugins/et-core-plugin/app/controllers/shortcodes/blog.php line 88:89
    – /wp-content/plugins/et-core-plugin/app/controllers/shortcodes/blog-carousel.php line 107:108
    – /wp-content/plugins/et-core-plugin/app/controllers/shortcodes/blog-list.php line 85:86

Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and for helping us improve our service. We are committed to providing you with the best experience possible and will keep you updated on our progress.

    Kind Regards,
    8theme Team.
