Might be a stupid question, but I’ve imported the data.xml file for “rose” variant. How do I “turn it on” (or any other variant I might choose to import) so that I can see it? 🙂

    Many thanks!

    Hello,

Now you need to change the Home page in Dashboard->Settings->Reading->Front Page. Please try it.

Also you can install dummy content in 8Theme Options->Import/Export->Dummy Content.

    Robert Hall.

Thanks for the quick reply Robert. Do the variants not have their file name associated with them once imported? For example, looking at the dropdown for static pages now, I see new pages added such as “Main Home Page” and “Home Variant 13”.

Are those my xml files I imported?

Also, installing dummy content won’t wipe my site’s data (products, pages, etc) that it already has, will it? If installed, then how is it removed when not needed anymore?

    Thanks so much!

    Hello,

Yes, templates variants are just numbered.
Your data won’t be wiped after installing demo content as it’s written in your database.
If you want to remove some pages you need delete in your wp-admin panel.

Good deal. Thank you for clarifying that. One more thing…when deleting the demo page/variant itself, what happens to the dummy content I imported as well?

    Hello,

Please clarify what dummy content you mean.
What demo page/variant do you want to remove?
If you remove a page it will be wiped from your site.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

Sounds like we’re talking about two different things here. I realize the consequences of removing a page, but I’m talking about the 2nd step involved when wanting to import one of your layout variants AND also see the all of the content contained within those variants. First step I did was upload the variant. Next was that I needed to go (I think) to Import/Export and choose to import the dummy content…which I have not done yet until I get more clarification on what all of this exactly means.

    I hope this is clearer?

I have it read…many times. It doesn’t address what I’m asking. Thanks for the help nonetheless.

    Hello,

When you install base content then base demo pages are installed (Home, Contact, About Us, Store, FAQ, and others).
When you install one of the variants (https://www.8theme.com/demo/classico/) only one page (the exact template) is installed.
If you want to create some other pages you can create them with help of Visual Composer editor.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.
