I’ve been struggling to get a good page speed, we’ve moved to a high spec dedicated server but still it’s slow. We do have a few facebook/google plugins but essentially there is no plugin that’s slowing anything down in particular. That is until I switch theme, then we see a marked difference (on our staging server).

We’ve tried WP Rocket but though we get a higher Page Speed score, in real terms the site is slower. We’re sticking with Autoptimize as it’s the only option that’s gotten us from an 11 score to 22 (mobile) / 60 (desktop).

The only thing I can see in debug is below, can this be fixed and is there anything else we can try?

    Hello,

Fixed. We’ll change that in the next theme update.

    Regards

Thanks Olga, the error is gone.

But the site is still slow, any ideas on how we can speed it up?

    Hello,

You may try a Nitro pack plugin. Try to enable JS combine in cache plugin options. Also, reduce the server response time.

That’s going to be tough, there are a few plugins that connect to FB, Google etc. Convincing the client that not everything is 100% necessary will be a challenge.

    Hello,

Do you mean that combine option causes issues with these scripts?

No, I mean the scripts are all external. Is there a way to have them hosted on our site instead?

    Hello,

It depends on plugins that call these scripts. Sometimes it’s possible, sometimes no. So, everything depends on the situation and functionality that these scripts are calling for.

    Regards
