Hello 8theme,
Before anything appreciate your support and assistance! Actually, we were using Blanco before upgrading to Royal. After theme change when we search inside the products the search engine returns the results based on the product names not the categories or other product specifications and parameters. But with Blanco search form we were able to get all the relevant results based on the product name, category, type, attribute & …. Is there any tweaks to get better search results with Royal search widget since it’s really not as useful as it should be the way it works right now?
Many thanks,
Hello,
You need edit the file wp-content/themes/royal/woosearchform.php and comment the line 15:
<input type="hidden" name="post_type" value="<?php esc_attr_e( etheme_get_option('search_post_type') ); ?>" />
Please try it.
Regards,
Eva Kemp.
Hello Eva,
Thanks for your response! Fortunately (or unfortunately) line 15 of woosearchform.php is the same so everything’s the same. If the search term exists in the product name it appears on the search list otherwise search engine doesn’t show the appropriate items. Any clues?

Hello,
Sorry, but your last post is unclear. What do you want to achieve?
Please provide us with FTP and wp-admin panel credentials in Private Content.

Hi Eva,
Actually the provided code:
code<input type="hidden" name="post_type" value="<?php esc_attr_e( etheme_get_option('search_post_type') ); ?>" />
is already in woosearchform.php so there’s no need to update/change the file.
But what I need is having a search form that returns search results based on product name, category, attributes and … just like I had before on Blanco theme. Let me make an example; the query (search term) is black. As of writing this message the search engine shows the products with “black” (the query) in product name for instance “black spider” but it doesn’t show the products that has been categorized under “black” category or with “black” color attribute or tagged as a black colored product.

Hello,
I meant you need to comment that code, not to add it.
Comment it or remove it and check search form after that.

Eva Kemp.
Hello gain,
My bad! BTW, I did that and it didn’t change anything.

Hello 8theme,
Still waiting for an answer. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hello,
Sorry for a delay.
We use basic search in the theme, which doesn’t include attributes, tags, etc. If you need more options for search form we recommend you to use special plugins because our support doesn’t produce implementation of additional functionality into the theme.
Please take our apologies and thank you for understanding.

Eva Kemp.
Hi Eva,
Ok! I see. Thanks for your response btw.
Regards,
& do you recommend any specific plugin?
Hello,
Unfortunately we recommend any plugins because we didn’t test them with the theme. You have to check them yourself.
Please take our apologies.
