We are using one of the Massive Addons shortcodes on our site. I was making some unrelated changes to the site and after switching our staging server from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.1 started seeing some errors from Massive Addons, which led me to look for a more current version (we have version 2.4.8), which led me to find that the plugin is no longer available.

Xstore still lists Massive Addons as a recommended plugin here: https://xstore.helpscoutdocs.com/article/36-included-plugins. Our site is only using the Carousel Image shortcode, but it is on a couple of dozen pages so replacing it with another one, assuming I can find something else with the same functionality, would be tedious.

    A couple of questions:

    – Do you know anything about why Massive Addons has been withdrawn?
    – Why do you still list it as a recommended plugin when it is no longer available?
    – Do I really need to look for a replacement, or is the site ok with using the single shortcode where it has been running that way for some time?

    Thanks,

    Barry

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns regarding the Massive Addons plugin. We understand the inconvenience this may have caused you, especially after the PHP version switch on your staging server.

    To address your questions:
    1. The withdrawal of Massive Addons from the market can occur for various reasons, including but not limited to updates in development strategy, maintenance decisions by the plugin authors, or compatibility issues with newer technologies. Unfortunately, we do not have specific information about the reasons behind Massive Addons being discontinued.

2.4.8.3 version of the plugin can be downloaded from this page – https://www.8theme.com/downloads/

    2. We apologize for any confusion caused by the continued listing of Massive Addons as a recommended plugin, but some of our customers want to use it still, so it was not removed. Massive Addons come bundled with our theme, but it is not obligatory, so you can deactivate it and use other available elements.

    3. Regarding the need for a replacement, if the Carousel Image shortcode from Massive Addons is still functioning correctly on your site without causing any critical errors or performance issues, it may not be urgent to replace it immediately. However, we do recommend considering alternative solutions in the long term, as the lack of updates and support for the plugin could potentially lead to security vulnerabilities or compatibility problems with future WordPress or PHP updates.

We would be happy to assist you in finding a suitable replacement for the Carousel Image shortcode https://prnt.sc/rXH5SMqqljXc to ensure a smooth transition and continued functionality of your site. Please let us know if you would like us to provide recommendations or further assistance.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience and are here to support you through this transition. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme’s Team
