XStore theme needs updating but doesn’t list an available update

    Hi there,
    We have a bunch of patches needing updates. We’re unable to update because we first need to update the theme to 9.6.4 (see pic) https://i.imgur.com/Qas5tPZ.png. However, it looks like we need to update to 9.6.3 first (https://i.imgur.com/MKrbvlG.png), when we click on “UPDATE NOW” button, nothing shows to update (https://i.imgur.com/tSijV9W.png). We’re currently running 9.6.1 (https://i.imgur.com/FLgzvp0.png). Lastly, Changelog also gives us the opportunity to update (https://i.imgur.com/AsthsEQ.png) but still no luck to satisfy updating.

    Could you please provide temporary wp-admin and FTP access? We will check what can be done to help you.
    To grant WP-Admin access, please proceed to create a new user account with an administrator role through your WordPress Dashboard. Once the account is established, you may securely transmit the username and password to us via the Private Content section designated for this purpose.

    For FTP access, we require the following details: FTP host, FTP username, FTP password, FTP port, and FTP encryption type. If you need assistance in creating these credentials, please reach out to your hosting provider who will guide you through the process.

    Hello @dsprinting,

    If you update to the latest version, all patches from the previous versions will already be included in the updated archive. Therefore, we kindly recommend updating to the latest version to ensure you have all the newest features and fixes.

    Please note that applying patches from a newer version to an older installation is not allowed, as it may cause critical errors due to numerous template modifications introduced in each update.

    After downloading, please upload the files to the following directories:

    Hi there, we needed to do another update. Still, we’re unable to do updates by the “Updates”, so we FTP’d XStore theme 9.7 into the themes folder. Now, the XStore Core plugin needs updated and when we FTP “et-core-plugin” to the plugins folder, it throws a critical error on the site. Let me know if you need credentials. The site is also not loading portions correctly (https://prnt.sc/Z01LDl1k83ts) on our product pages this could be from an outdated core?

    Lastly, we would LOVE to get the “Updates” ability back so we don’t have to come back here for support each time. 🙂

    Hello, dsprinting,

    Unfortunately, we no longer have access to the admin panel. The error indicates that one of the plugins, Visual Composer, was deactivated during the update. Please go to the Plugins tab in the admin panel and activate this plugin. Once it is activated, the errors should be resolved.

    Thank you for providing access. You also needed to enable the WPBakery Page Builder plugin, which has now resolved the errors. Most likely, this issue occurred during the plugin update process. During updates, plugins are temporarily deactivated, updated, and then reactivated. It seems that, for some reason, the mentioned plugins were not reactivated automatically.

    Could you please let us know if you interrupted the plugin update process, for example, by refreshing or closing the page during the update?

    We also noticed that the XStore admin panel is hidden on your site, which may affect the theme update process. Please let us know how you have hidden it.

    Could you please let us know if you interrupted the plugin update process, for example, by refreshing or closing the page during the update?

    Hi,
    As noted in our previous message, we’re unable to auto update via the “Updates” page on the site. The theme and core were done via FTP. We’d love to get “Updates” back so the entire update process is done, including replacing proper plugin’s and turning them on. Can you fix “Updates” for us?

    To activate automatic theme updates, please restore the XStore admin panel because it is from there that requests for information about new versions come.

    Hi there,
    There is no access to to “Theme Options”. It throws an error.

    It might be faster if you could have someone do a thorough review of the Theme files and features to troubleshoot the problem and restore the entire functionality of XStore. You see, it needs to be fixed first before we’re able to run through your suggestions.

    Hello, dsprinting,

    Thank you for providing access. The first issue we discovered is that in the parent theme, approximately half of the file located at wp-content/themes/xstore/framework/panel/templates/page-navigation.php is missing.

    This is only what we found immediately; there may be other similar issues. Could you please confirm whether any changes were made to the parent theme files?

    Additionally, we noticed that your child theme contains code that disables plugin updates, which may also affect our plugin. Furthermore, WP_CRON is disabled on your website, which can influence the update process.

    We also recommend updating PHP to at least version 8.0.

    Hi there,
    No changes have been made to the parent theme.

    “wp-content/themes/xstore/framework/panel/templates/page-navigation.php is missing. ” I can’t explain that. Isn’t this part of your theme package that should be installed when updating the theme?

    The child theme contains code that prevents changes to the child theme only since we have customized features that rely on the child theme to perform. This was done 4 years ago. We’ve successfully updated XStore theme and its needed plugins via “Updates” up until 3 months ago.

    Running PHP version 8.0 breaks the theme and site.

    Hi Andrew,
    Unfortunately, doing so is what breaks the site – it’s why we’re here. I just ran across an earlier message we missed asking for FTP access, etc. I’m going to provide in the private section of this message to help your team navigate and discover the cause(s) of Xstore theme update errors and hopefully get our theme updated. I’m sorry this isn’t an easy fix, but a fix of the theme function is still needed.

    Hello, dsprinting,

    Thank you for your access. We also ask you to enable WP_CRON that were disabled on the server, because they can affect the import process, and if possible, provide us with server information about what maximum files can be uploaded to the server, meaning the maximum file size and the amount of free space on the server.
