1. Speaking with WPKraken Team is frustrating, you cannot speak directly with a tech person… there is always the filter of an account (I suppose) than doesn’t understand anything of what you really need and she asks absourd amounts for stupid things too. Think that last time they asked to me 150 Dollars and three days of work for a thing that an external developer after made for free because he told me it required only ten minutes to him.
Said this, I don’t think the service offered by WPKraken Team is serious and professional and it is the only (BIG) negative aspect of 8Theme.
Therefore, please help me to solve this matter in another way. I asked to the same previous developerd (very skilled and smart) and he replied to me to change theme, because according to him the things I asked should be very simple but the portfolio page made by 8Theme doesn’t permit it.
Could you give me as much information as possible about this matter so that I can pass them to the developer and solve the question in a way that is affordable for me?
For example what files have to be modified in this case? If you have some ideas of what scripts/concept to insert, tell me and I pass these info to him to facilitate his works.

2. Do I need to modify all three files or I could choose only one of it? I thought the resulting page of the project was generated from one file only. Do you have idea of what code I need to inster or this is out of our basic support scope too?

open up /wp-content/themes/woopress/framework/portfolio.php and in that you will see a function at 476, replace that function with this one,

Hi Laranz, if you confirm to me that the last modification is only in function.php (as I’ve seen from the last correction, that works) I restore the old portfolio.php and content-portfolio.php and after try to modify again function.php comparing the old and the new versions side by side

in portfolio.php you insert the line ‘$term_list = wp_list_filter( $term_list, array( 'slug'=>'in-evidenza' ) but the slug was0-in-evidenza, not in-evidenza (there is “0-“, needful for my custom order of the buttons and of the ByLine).

In any case it works, but only in Italian, not in English or Chinese.

I see that in function.php you inserted this line:
$term_list = wp_list_filter( $term_list, array( 'term_id'=> '71' ), 'NOT' );
I tried to add also ID 72 (En) and 73 (Cn)
both in this way
$term_list = wp_list_filter( $term_list, array( 'term_id'=> '71,72,73' ), 'NOT' );
and in this too
$term_list = wp_list_filter( $term_list, array( 'term_id'=> '71','72','73' ), 'NOT' );
but it doesn’t work.
How can I make the script working in every language?

Thanks to have put it in the child too, but if I can keep this in one place only is better. Portfolio.php cannot be inserted in the child, it doesn’t work… therefore I need to backup it before the next update in any case. In fact I’ve a lot of other customizations inside this file, therefore it’s not a problem if you keep all things there.

I’ve not understood where the last script is placed: porfolio.php, content-portfolio.php or function.php? Or in all three?

IMPORTANT:

I lost some of the previous customizations.

1. after your last change the ByLine is no more ordered by slug (as it was before, thanks to the script of your colleagues)

2. after your last change in the mobile version I don’t have anymore two columns (as it was before, thanks to the script of your colleagues)

3. now in the desktop version the space between columns are wrong. I lost entire weeks of customizations.

4. there other some small errors around now…

Why? By chance have you removed some previous custom instruction? Can you restore the previous and make only the needful to remove IN EVIDENZA in the ByLine in every language?

Only about the point 4. (namely “in the mobile version, how I can move the language block that now is below the main menu to the top part?”), I know that you have already replied that additional customization is not included and I have to contact WP-Kraken team.
But, if possible, could you only tell me what is the file where to I need to do this change? Maybe it could be needful only to cut and paste a piece of the already present code and simply shift it in above position of the page. If it so simple I could do this alone.

Hello Laranz, sorry I noted that changing the number 55, the code works. But if I add echo "..." it is added to every title (even when it is not cut off).

Moreover, the problem is that the theme is responsible, therefore there isn’t a “right” number of characters in every situation… do you know if is it possible to set the cutting off according to the line? I.e. making the cutting off just before to start a new line.
Alternatively to set the right number of characters for every possible width of the page.

Moreover, how to do the same with the above description with categories?

1. Now I understand how it works. Well, at this point there is a way to say: once you’ve loaded the page, show this category right away?
For the user the result should be the same.

2. This script doesn’t work. See the result in these two screenshots (in pvt the links). The first picture shows how it should be, but without the category showed with the arrows (my second category). The second pic shows the result with the script, as you can see all other categories disappear after the first and strange periods appear, always different.
Moreover, in this category the first category is not chosen in the right way. May we can identificate it with an ID or with its own name or slug?

Regarding the other pending question, do you have a solution?

The question was:
When the categories are too much or when the title is too long, the pagination is not perfect because the grid becomes broken. See the attached pic to understand what I mean.

To remove the green space and maintain the grid still perfect, I need to shorten the two text blocks (showed in the pic by arrows 1 and 2).

I thought it was very simple… I tried these scripts:
