Since this morning, we have been receiving the following error in the WordPress dashboard:

“We are unable to connect to the XStore API with the XStore theme. Please check your SSL certificate or white lists.

cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 2002 milliseconds.”

    Hello,

I would like to follow up on the XStore API connection issue.

When I first contacted you, I was receiving the following error:

“We are unable to connect to the XStore API with the XStore theme. Please check your SSL certificate or white lists.
cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 2002 milliseconds”

At the time I sent my initial message, the issue appeared to have resolved itself. However, the same error has now appeared again.

Could you please let me know if there are any updates regarding this issue or if you have identified the cause?

    Hello, Nesa,

A cURL error 28 (Connection timed out) usually indicates that your server is unable to establish a connection to our API server within the specified timeframe. Since the issue occurs intermittently, it is often related to temporary network routing delays, firewall/security restrictions, or host-level limits.

We kindly recommend checking the following with your hosting provider:

cURL & SSL Settings: Ensure that cURL is properly updated on your server and that outbound connections over HTTPS (port 443) are not restricted.

Whitelisting: Ask your host to whitelist connections to 8theme.com (and its subdomains).

Timeout Limits: If possible, try temporarily increasing the default cURL connection timeout limit in your server’s PHP configuration.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme’s Team

    Hello, Nesa,

To proceed, please first log into your personal account on 8theme and deactivate the unnecessary domain (as shown in the attached screenshot). After that, simply activate the theme on the new domain.

    Hi,

Could I please ask you to do this? I’m not very experienced with these settings and I’m afraid I might make a mistake.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your help with the domain activation and the update.

Do you think the cURL 28 connection timeout issue I previously reported could have been caused by this?

Should I still contact my hosting provider to check the server settings, or do you think the issue should now be resolved?

Thank you again for your assistance.

    Hello, Nesa,

These issues are related; however, the activation issue could not have affected the “cURL 28 connection timeout issue.” On the other hand, the “cURL 28 connection timeout issue” definitely impacted the activation problem.

    Best Regards,
