We would like to have the ability to feature a video in place of a featured image (product thumbnail) within the product gallery section. Is this possible?

Hello,

Yes, you can do this. Go to Products > edit a product, find Product Video section on the right and upload a video file, but remove featured image then.

It says I’m able to add a video via YouTube. I added the iFrame code <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/lp-EO5I60KA” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe> and save the product and I still see no change.

I have checked and it does not seem like it’s on YouTube’s end. Allow embed in post was already selected.

I have created a test site to explore further the issues we are having. I have activated all of the other themes and when I go within a product to edit, there are no options to have a video in place of the featured image. However, if I activate your theme, I have the option to feature a video. From what I can see, default WordPress theme does not give you the ability to feature a video in the featured image.

We just want to get this to work ASAP.

I’m not having an issue with embedding a video the the product description page, which these plugins address. I’m having issues with featuring a video in place of the feature image. I would like to have my users the ability to scroll within the shop page and select a product thumbnail to play a video that it’s attached to. Your theme is suppose to have this functionality, correct? If not, can you point me in the right place to get this done? My client, for whatever reason, would really like this feature and will not let go of it.

Hello,

Our theme supports video for single product page. I have checked the possibility to add video and see no obstacles to do it now. You may create another test page from woocommerce>add product or add video to any existing product using iframe tag. Pay your attention that in our theme video will be added to product gallery only!

If you want to replace featured image with video you should make additional customization (in case you have appropriate skills) of following file: royal/woocommerce/single-product/product-image.php . We recommend to place all the changes in child theme.
Additional customization is beyond the scope of our support.
