Variation swatches, meaning of option “Use alternative stock logic”

The “Use Alternative Stock Logic” option in the variation swatches settings modifies the behavior of swatches for single products as follows:

This option is designed to manage the display of out-of-stock product variations in a more flexible manner. When enabled, it allows the system to display out-of-stock variations based on your store’s configuration. This feature can be particularly useful if you wish to show all product variations, including those that are out of stock, or if you want to control how customers interact with unavailable options.

As previously mentioned, this option modifies the logic for out-of-stock products (displaying a cross icon). New dependencies are added for products that have one or more out-of-stock variations. Typically, additional store configurations are introduced by third-party plugins such as Woo Custom Product Fields or WooCommerce Custom Fields.

Usually, swatches are not integrated with these plugins to avoid overloading the systems of clients who do not use such plugins.
