I just updated to 3.0 – are you guys serious with this update?!
I went through your little activation guide for the theme – and all of my settings have been erased/updated with your default settings.
I have never been more frustrated / mad with a theme!!! A warning / instructions on this update would have HELPED!

THANK GOD I had a solid backup, but that backup was regretfully 3 days old. Otherwise I would have lost weeks of work. This is the first time with any Theme and or Software that has done something like this.
I may start looking into a CDP backup system as I can’t afford so much lost dedicated time on a project, with countless hours of customization to then have it all wiped by a simple upgrade.
This needs to be looked at hard and quickly, before releasing a software or you could destroy your reputation fast.
Please rethink your deployments, fix bugs in the currently release and not try to release buggy themes that never have the issued solved until you do a from the ground up upgrade. Perhaps 8 Theme needs a test group to prevent these type of issues.
This new version I guess is designed to make it simple for the initial setup, but what about all the current paid users, you are going to have a nightmare on your hands fast.
8 Theme does good work, but they have some quality control issues, that need addressed or sadly my loyalty will be shifted elsewhere.

If you just want to update XStore theme you need to skip Setup Wizard http://prntscr.com/d8r3h5
Also, every step, except Activation, has “Skip This Step” button http://prntscr.com/d8r43b and you can proceed to next step. You just need to read the description of the step and decide if you need the described content or not. If you choose the installation of demo version you should understand, that this content will be installed once you press “Continue” button.
Anyway, we’ll add the notice that Setup Wizard can be canceled for those who just want to update theme.
I did “skip” the import demo version step. However, when I finished up the process – it still imported. You might want to double check.
Is there a way to activate the theme & updated the packaged plugins without going through the setup wizard?
I did what you describe above and also lost everything, it’s a major oversight and why must I activate a theme now before using it? This is a major mess now, to many changes to fast, unstable development cycles, until you have a clean clear cut STEP BY STEP way, I can’t upgrade.
In the past all you needed to do was replace files by doing a compare, as far as I’m concerned 3.0 is to many changes for people that already have good working sites that just want the updates and patches.
I’m still working on the site, so at least it was not in production. Wait until a site that is in production and they update to 3.0. You will have a nightmare on your hands.

After that go to Theme Options and activate theme there. That’s all. In this case, you won’t lose anything if you don’t change template files.
More than 80 users have already updated their sites and only a few users who decided to go through Setup Wizard again (because you actually have already do this after the first theme installation) have problems similar to yours. We took into account this inconvenience and will add a special notice in next version.
If you want I can update theme for you in no time. Provide me temporary admin panel and FTP access.
When I saw that topic, before updating my website, I updated my localhost site. And site background which is green became white.
I think I will wait next update 🙂

I didn’t make any change on my website, it was a test I made on localhost.
