Updates affect my site changes - by masseyn

Have i got my site setup correctly as whenever i update the theme to the latest version the site changes i have on my files and global.css revert back to normal.

Please, contact administrator
for this information.

Hello,

please specify – have you edited theme files? Theme files usually are overwritten on update. To prevent losing all your customization you need to move it to Child theme

Ah yes, how do i do this…?

Is there a way to move my edited files and global css changes to the child theme so the updates do not affect the site ?

Hello,

you are absolutely right!
Please read following article as it has detailed guide of setting Child Theme : https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
After that you need to manually move files into Child Theme folder and include them as described in article above.
Files in Child theme and css code in custom.css will not be lost on theme update.
