Update to 2.4.1 causing many major page display issues

Hi there

I have just updated from v1.0 to 2.4.1 and most of my pages are not displaying properly. In the backend the Visual composer is not working/showing. It is effectively leaving my website unusable. This is not something I expect from a premium theme.

Please help advise on how this can be resolved asap! Website URL in private content section below.

Ok I’ve managed to fix some of this through VC plugin install (not particularly intuitive that this needs to be done separately and not being clearly communicated).

VC doesn’t seem to work for static blocks and footer is affected by that. Is there a resolution for this?

Also, the titles of the Product galleries are no longer showing up (“Featured Products” etc). Is there a fix?

Also, “Portfolio” (renamed to “All products” on my page) doesn’t display in a grid anymore. Is there a fix?

Sidebars appear to have disappeared from all pages that had sidebars.

Custom border colour of entry fields has disappeared.

Please help address these issues.

Hello,

Have you created back up before update?
You used very old version of the theme and updating the theme may cause some mess on the pages with sections and parallax effect where VC is used! This is due to changes made in the code and separated visual composer as a plugin. Therefore, after the upgrade to Legenda version 2.4.1 be ready that you will need to recreate those pages.
Also delete “wpbakery” folder from wp-content/themes/legenda directory.

Thanks for your reply, I did create a back-up. I also saw your above answer before in other posts. What it doesn’t address is the questions I asked in my previous post – copied here again:

I won’t be able to recreate the pages (as inconvenient as that is) without VC working on static blocks, the product galleries not showing the titles and the “Portfolio” no longer displaying as before.

If this is nothing to do with the Legenda theme then please let me know. Otherwise it would be good to have your support in resolving these issues.

Hello,

To have VC editor visible for Static Block go to Settings > Visual Composer and select all Content Types.
Concerning the other issues please provide us with wp-admin panel and FTP credentials in Private Content.
Also please specify the links where sidebars aren’t displayed.

Hello,

You need remove wpbakery folder as VC plugin is no longer implemented in the theme and is used as a separate plugin.

Thanks I have updated the theme according to the instructions and have deleted wpbakery. I read somewhere else that I need to also delete the woocommerce folder – could you confirm?

Please also advise on the “Portfolio” page, which is no longer displaying in its usual grid format. I believe that was a preset for the theme, so I don’t know how to recreate that.

Hello,

Yes, you need delete woocommerce folder in legenda directory and reupload with new woocommerce files from the theme package.
The issue with Portfolio page has been fixed.
Please check it.

Hi Eva

What is the impact of the woocommerce folder still being there at the moment? We are just running a Black Friday Promo and I don;t want to change anything today if I don;t have to. Will woocommerce still work as it is now?

I checked the Portfolio and it used to be one image, followed by the Summary/Abstract. But the abstract is now being squashed into a long column due to the image slider. Any way that can be changed to the way it was before?

Hello,

Woocommerce will work as before. You shouldn’t worry. Just some files will be updated.

As I see Portfolio page is working fine.
Could you please clarify with more details and show us a screenshot?

Hi Eva

It does display better now, perhaps it was just a load error or you had done something else. One thing that still isn’t the same as before is the information being shown for each product. Before it would show the titles on the portfolio as well, which now are not showing. I’m happy to play around with it myself if you could let me know where there settings are. I don;t seem to be able to see them and it would be good to know for the future.

Great, that works. With regards to the WooCommerce files, the folder was updated when I uploaded the new theme. Do I still need to delete the woocommerce folder and upload the new woocommerce folder from the new legenda theme?
