Do you have a quick video you can show to install the translation files via WordPress?

Also, does the translation translate the entire page? I don’t understand what it will translate.

    Hello,

    We have documentation https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-translation/base-theme-translation/
Using translation files you can translate strings from theme to another language, for example, http://prntscr.com/w5cbjd etc.

    Regards

The documentation is not very good, so that’s why I asked for a video. A video is definitely required since you have a dedicated forum section for translation files!

Here are the reasons why I do not like the documentation produced:

    1) It is not clear on whether you can import translation files in various ways to achieve the same outcome. I initially read the documentation guidance as me having to follow EVERY step but infact only one section is required. This was really confusing. Make it more clear please.

    2) The documentation doesn’t tell you how to install the language on LocoTranslate (the plugin you are advertising, please don’t tell me to contact the author!). When I go to LocoTranslate in WordPress and then Languages it doesn’t display the language files I have uploaded to the themes folder as Installed. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to install the translation files I have uploaded to the themes folder.

    3) The documentation doesn’t explain why in the translation files why there are two files for each language and in some languages there are three files?! Is one for WordPress and the other for your site?? No idea what the third file is for…

    https://prnt.sc/w5pvz1

Sorry, but the manual needs testing against each method within the documentation that has been produced.

    4) One method no longer works as LocoTranslate says filenames need to be written in a certain way. This method (referring to the method in the link below) can no longer be done unless you rename all the files which is annoying.
    https://prnt.sc/w5pwsu

    5) There is no single place with all the .mo and .po files. Instead, you just have a master version but within there is folders. Please don’t provide me with this in your response. I am specifically requesting that you should allow users to have all the .mo and .po files in one folder to allow easier upload. Also, you should use better naming function i.e. Spanish.PO or SpanishSpain.PO

    6) The documentation doesn’t make it clear how you would enable the translate function to work with the below…
    https://prnt.sc/w5pz3k

    7) The documentation produced should make it clear that when WordPress updates (which is out of your control) that translations make be lost so for the user to back it up before updating WordPress.

    8) The documentation should end with how users can offer a contribution. Mentioning in the forum section (as you already do) is good but the documentation should include it too.

    9) The documentation should make it clear how to update it to the themes folder and whether it needs to go into the childs theme or the main theme folder?

Rather than just give me answers to the above questions, please can you take action and fix the issue by amending the guidance and implementing a solution to the above problems?

I spent hours trying to understand the documentation and I am educated to PHD level (three times over).

I use a childs theme and would like the following themes installed (https://prnt.sc/w5q3vj), so it displays here…
    https://prnt.sc/w5pz3k

Please could you do… I have uploaded the files but not sure if it is the right place I uploaded the files for a childs theme…

Login details provided for you to fix, please.

    Please contact administrator
    for this information.

    Hello,

    1) Our theme uses the default way of translation, so nothing extra than any other WP themes or plugins Read the Loco translate plugin documentation if you did not find the necessary information in our docs https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/beginners or search for the youtube video tutorial.

    2) If you have pre-translated files for theme (for example xstore-en_US.po and xstore-en_US.mo) place them to wp-content/languages/themes OR wp-content/languages/loco/themes folder. After that you’ll be able to edit these files using Loco Translate > Themes > XStore > you’ll get the English (US) translation. Id you have more than 1 translation for your language it means that you placed translation files into both folders. But we would recommend you to remove one of them and leave only one translation for 1 language.

    3) We don’t explain this information because it’s not related to theme but to basic WordPress. Read more if you want to study this in a deep https://wplang.org/translate-theme-plugin/#1.2

    4) What files do you need to rename if you already have correct file name https://prnt.sc/w5pvz1 ?

    5) You can download the master archive, extract it, and move all the files to one folder if you need all of them. Also, we name translation files according to WP translation requirements. We can’t rename them to Spanish.PO or SpanishSpain.PO because they won’t work. WordPress has clear requirements about translation files name.

    6) If you want to create the multilingual site you need to use special plugin for these purposes
    https://colorlib.com/wp/wordpress-multilingual-plugins/

    7) WordPress does not update the languages folder, so you should not lose theme or XStore Core plugin translation after WP update.

    8) Ok.
    9) We have the article that explains how to update translation files after theme update https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-translation/translation-files-update/
You don’t need to touch theme or child theme files. You just update the translation files that you placed in the wp-content/languages/themes folder.

In theme documentation we highlight only questions related to the theme, we don’t include articles with basic WP translation rules.
If you need these basics we would recommend you to read the WP documentation to get more information.

    Regards
