    Hi guys,

I am still struggling with the horizontal product filters.
I need them on certain pages so that the customer can find products based on price, brand, flavor, country or rating.
I tried several things and it isnt working how filters should work.

    1 Horizontal filters
I created horizontal filters to start with. It all looked fine but for some reasons the filters dissapeared and only the price slider was there.

    2 Product filters
The second thing I tried were the product filters. They look good, but dont work. Whenever you try to use them, you dont see the products you’re searching for. After pressing the search button you’re forwarded to a product page, which doesnt even meet the filter requirements.

What I need are filters based on price, brand, land, flavor and rating. Whenever pressing the button Search, I need to see the products that meet the request / requirement of the filter(s). This is how a proper filter should work. The filter needs to filter the products that are shown on that particular page. So if I am looking for an alcoholfree drink, gins shouldnt come up.

The filters need to be horizontal, not vertical since I dont want to use that design. Horizontal is more user friendly.

Since I tried everything and didnt get it. Could you please guide me how to setup these filters?

    Regards,
    Denise

    Hello @Denise,

If your Shop page and other WooCommerce settings are configured correctly, our filters widgets will properly redirect you to the shop page with the filter queries applied, as demonstrated on our demo site: https://xstore.8theme.com/elementor/demos/book-store/.

If you require our assistance, please attach a video showing your test (you may upload it to a service such as https://fex.net/). Additionally, please provide further details in the private content area, including screenshots, videos, and links to the pages where these filters are used.

    Best regards,

    Hi Jack,

it seems that the horizontal filters doesnt do what I want it to do, but that the sidebar filter does. Could this be the case here?

I did some research, perhaps it is better to ask you how I can get these side filters on my pages:

I created an example of how I would like to have my page. However I cannot work with the Product Archive, so I hope we can find a way / workaround to add the filters in the same way for the current product pages.

    Hello @Denise,

From your screenshot, we can see that you have correctly added the sidebar widget to your archive products page in the editor. Could you please clarify what exactly you were unable to achieve? Since your Shop page is built using the Archive Products template, and if the filters in the sidebar widget are functioning correctly, you can replace the horizontal filters with the sidebar widget.

If you need our assistance, please provide us with more details about your request.

    Hi Jack,

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I will do my best to explain the situation.

First of all, I love the design of the horizontal filters since this gives such a clean overview and it is easier to manage.
However, what I found out is that if I use the horizontal filter (which you can add everywhere) you really filter on all products and the best result is shown in another page. So you wont see the products below the filter that meet your requirements. No, you only see the best result of your search.
This makes sense if I think about it, but this is not really what I had in my mind for my filters haha. So I think that I should not focus on the horizontal filter anymore, but I have to go for the sidebar filter.

Regarding the sidebar filter. Regarding the sidebar filter; I wanted to integrate this in my current pages. The pages that I built from scratch, not by using your archive. However, it seems impossible to add the filters on the left side, next to my products.
I tried to add them as “product filters” and than choose for the “shop sidebar” (widget). But for some reason, the items arent shown. I tried several things and changed the items in the widget, but they arent shown in the sidebar.

So I thought I am going to test this with the archive page. And with the archive page is work properly. However.. When I use the archive page I cannot select the products that needs to be shown.
I currently have three different pages. One shows the gins, one shows the non-alcoholic drinks and one shows the gifts. When I use the product archive I cannot only select the gins, non-alcoholic drinks or the gifts. Which makes it for me unable to use.

Therefore I wanted to go back to the “beginning”; add the sidebar filters to my current pages so that it is possible for customers to filter on their needs / requirements.
But since this isnt working, I would like to ask you to help me. This is really the last thing that needs to be changed in order to launch the website :(.
I even thought of removing the filters, but I came down to three pages where I really need it for an easy customer experience..

    Hello @Denise,

According to the WooCommerce plugin code base, filters and other widgets related to product filtering actions can only be displayed on original product archive pages, such as the shop page, product category archives, and other product taxonomies. This default behavior is implemented in most of WooCommerce-based widgets: https://prnt.sc/GJdQpcZJydrR.

If you would like to create custom pages with products and apply filters for specific items, this can only be achieved by using additional plugins that provide custom widget filters designed to filter products on the current page only.

However, we recommend an alternative solution. If you wish to display products from different categories on separate pages, you can create multiple Product Archive templates and set conditions to apply each template only to a specific product category archive page: https://gyazo.com/2d7ffbb67d010005b33b6253cb4f3b42.

Please also ensure that your products are assigned to the corresponding product categories in the backend: https://prnt.sc/OMEUZZ6VtJ0J.

We suggest using the Horizontal Filters (https://prnt.sc/kR3OEMj_fP9J) instead of the standard Product Filters, as they display your sidebar content in a horizontal layout and filter items on the current page only, similar to the Sidebar widget.

For more information, please refer to our documentation on the builder:
    https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/xstore-builders/xstore-products-archive-builder-with-elementor/

If some widgets are not shown in your Elementor panel, please check whether they are enabled in the Elements Manager: https://elementor.com/help/element-manager/

For more details on setting conditions, please review the following documentation:

    Hi Jack,

Thank you for your information! This makes sense and I wasnt aware of this. So that is the reason of the confusion.

I checked your alternative route and I am happy that you told me this. Regarding the shop page; everything works now. I will now check the other pages :).

    Denise

    Hi Jack,

I created one for the gin and gin pakketten as well. But I have no idea how to get these archives shown on my current pages (see the links in the private area). I also created on for alcoholvrij, but the page crashed after this. No idea what happened, but this page dissapeared.
Could you please have a look and perhaps help me out by installing the archives on the correct pages? For me this is really a horror project. Im struggling for a few hours now and still dont get it right :(.

    Regards,
    Denise

    Hello @Denise,

We have checked your pages, and they are working correctly on our end. When reviewing the page you created manually, we noticed that you are trying to display products from multiple categories (https://gyazo.com/b6cdabb8fd60d6662e721b8f54499354). As we previously explained in detail, the sidebar filters do not function on custom non-archive pages.

If you need to create such a page, you can develop a new archive products template based on the existing shop template and assign it to one of your product categories, as you have done with other templates (https://prnt.sc/0qyOc6WDs3he). Then, assign your products to that specific category or tag.

Please note that it is not possible to apply the archive products template to custom pages. However, you can create a custom product category or product tag and assign the template to the corresponding category or tag archive. You may also rename the category or, by using additional snippets or the settings in “Dashboard → Settings → Permalinks”, modify the default structure of product taxonomy archives.

Kindly note that we do not provide additional customization through our support forum, as it falls outside the scope of our basic support. Nevertheless, we are always happy to offer suggestions and guidance whenever possible.

We have provided you with the necessary details and documentation related to customizing your store.

    Hi Jack,

    Thank you for checking this!

So let me check if I understood you correctly. I can make the product archives (including the filter), but I cannot add this product archives template to an existing page?Because you’re right; this is what I was trying to do.

For example the gin product archive. I created the archive and assigned the gin category. All gins are also assigned to that category. I had assigned them firs, when I just started building the webshop, so this should be all right.
It seems that if I want to make this work and show this page, I have to replace my current (custom made) page by this archive. So I can delete the current pages, change the permalinks and add it to the menu.
    Am I right?

    Hello @Denise,

Yes, custom pages cannot display archive product pages. In this case, you need to create separate templates in the Archive Product Builder and assign them using the appropriate Conditions. We have already provided more details in our next reply: https://www.8theme.com/topic/the-product-filters-arent-working-how-they-should-work-i-tried-several-things/#post-468241.
