Speed + Homepage Grid - by mariemassephoto

Hello,

I’ve been very disappointed in the speed of this site since I’ve activated this theme. It’s been taking 20-20 seconds to load my home page. I’ve deactivated all of my plugins to see if one was the cause. I did notice earlier that the Essential Grid… which clearly is required… slows down the site.

When deactivatng and re-activing this plugin, somehow something was messed up and now I’m only seeing the shortcode upon visiting my homepage…. it’s faster than usual.

Anyway, can you please take a look at the site and see why this theme or something I’m doing is impacting the speed? And also help me to get my homepage images to appear again instead of the shortcake for the grid?

Hello,

I’ve activated the plugin Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer and Visual Composer and now shortcodes aren’t shown.
Please check this site http://www.webpagetest.org/result/150701_6K_TVM/1/details/ , you’ll see slow loading is caused by your images. You need optimize them.

Thank you for that information! I was wondering if that was the problem being that I’ve only ever had 1 image on my home page before.

Can you tell me the optimal size these images should be in the essential grid layout I am using? I am not able to see this in your documentation and want to correct my images to be optimal.

Hello,

Our images on demo site have approximate dimensions of 850px × 450px.

Try to resize your images and reupload them.

Hi Eva,

I’ve read the articles you mentioned. I’ve checked the size of my images on my home page which are all 600 x 338…. therefore they are small and should not affect the speed.

I’ve disabled all of my plugins and added them back one by one. And I added a cache plugin to see if it helped… it did not.

My host is Bluehost and they have been fine prior to this theme as well as my other site fearlessandframed.com (which has Legenda by the way) works just fine.

I have not had a speed problem until using this theme. It’s taking at least 20 seconds for my Home Page to come up.

Please help – I’m so disappointed as I was over the moon about the Legenda theme on my other site that I purchased this theme thinking it would be just as amazing and easy to use.
