  Is there a way to add a custom shop banner for certain categories or is just for the ‘shop’ page?

  Hello,

  If you want to add the banner for the category only then go to Products > Categories > edit the category and use the product category description field to add the custom content (text, HTML or Static Block shortcode) and don’t add the banner to shop banner area in theme options.
