Search does not work - by Noexis - on WordPress WooCommerce support

dear support team.

the search is not working, with the ajax it shows the posts that are being searched, but if you enter to search the same string says that nothing is found.

if you search:
“Materialumstellung bei den Pulverscheiben”
the ajax shows the list found the posts.
if you click view all, it shows that post that is being search
*** if you enter the word, it says that nothing could be found.

this is not user friendly, not all users wait for ajax request, and not all users click on show all.

what is wrong with the search?

Hello,

By default search searches by products when you click at the search button and if you check the link attentively you’ll see post_type=product&product_cat=0 If you don’t need the search by product just disable it in the search settings http://prntscr.com/pdirng .

but why!
why not both? didn’t you see how searches on website work or not!

we need the search to search pages, posts and products! why this limitation?
what should we do in order to fix this?

when you enter a post title, and you type ‘ENTER’ on keyboard, it shows that nothing was found!
this is not very user friendly and not very functional. not every user waits for ajax drop down, most of searchers press enter after typing a post title. but then nothing is being found.

if ajax drops down the result, why after entering does not find anything!!!

for instance, type marmelade and press enter
why not finding that post!

Please clear all the cache and check one more time. It works fine when I use the “Enter” – https://gyazo.com/abd4823c0f815fb03fc3361ddadd1d8d (Chrome browser)
What browser do you use?

i was using chrome and mozilla aswell.
yes, now it works. why this happend, it was more than a week that this was not working? maybe after we updated the theme and core?

Hello,

We found that you left 1-star rating for our theme https://themeforest.net/ratings/3047964
We are very upset about this situation! Our theme includes different types of search and it’s not limited compare to other themes.
Previously described problem (when you found the only post but then were redirected to product page) we’ll fix in one of the next updates. Anyway, I would like to clarify another thing: 1) is it ok for you that if you find both types – products and posts – then you are redirected to products by click on enter?
2) would you be able to change the rating once we fix the mentioned issue?

well, YES. i will give u 5 star just after i finish this comment here.
maybe i was not the best client regarding on my requests and english as well, but really, some of the issues are not very friendly and that made us upset as well.

now you were really fast on replying and fixing issues. we do not think that we asked really deep customisation and fixes out of scope.

one more thing, we had to change our custom post type just to work the search, that’s why we had to do a lot of changes in order to have the website more functional.

again, thank you very much for todays fast responds.

Hello,

Sometimes we get too many requests and response time is longer than we would like to be.
We are working on improvements of our theme, especially header builder and it causes some issues with previously stable options like search. But we hope that within 1-2 weeks we’ll be able to normalize this situation. Search by custom post type is a specific feature because we can’t foresee how every customer creates the custom post type, so we could implement search option out of the box only for known posts types: pages, posts, products.

Also, would suggest you to check our header builder feature on your test site (if you changed the header.php file in child theme remove it to be able to build the new header, because that file is out of date and won’t allow to work header builder correctly)

dear all, PLEASE and again, could you help me on fixing the header search?
it searches only posts, or products! not both of them, there’s no reason to not work and search both the posts and products as well!

when you PRESS ENTER, the lists shows only products! and not the posts!
in order to see posts, it is on the custimizer to stop ‘search by products’ and then works with posts.

if you activate to search by products, the results DOES NOT SHOW the posts you’ve searched.

E.G

the website is online now, and still has problems with search.
what CAN WE DO in order to have the search results to show POSTS and PRODS as well!

PLEASE, this is not customisation that we’re asking for, this is a half function that has to be fixed and ofc it is a theme option request!

Hello,

We are working on new theme update to improve it. It should be available tomorrow. But keep in mind that new options will be available only if you use the header builder. So, wait for tomorrow and provide FTP access to update the theme for you.

we just updated pour website, and activated header builder as well, but the search is still the same again.

if is possible for you managing and updating our theme via WP file manager in dashboard?
it is easier for us to give u access via wp-admin, but if that is not possible, i will provide u with the login details via ftp.

Hello,

We have updated theme and core plugin. Then I have renamed the header.php file in the child theme and built header using header builder. There you’ll be able to find search settings http://prntscr.com/ph286e Results Sorting field supports drag and drop option to sort what results you want to show first. Check and let me know your opinion.

Sorry, seems Ajax still finds the results but enter – no. Provide FTP because we need to check and play with theme files code. In case we face fatal error we won’t be able to finish without FTP.

Hello,

Sorry, but you gave access to wrong directory. There are only 3 themes in the wp-content/themes but 4 in the WP admin https://gyazo.com/56cda2f47d3d94773cf08283eea3bfc1
Please, check and provide us with FTP access to the same WP installation as the Dashboard access.

the logins are correct (just double checked it)
and the files are public_shtml, and the theme is xstore_custom.

also, we website is online and the logins are in the private content area!

Hello,

We have renamed the archive-product.php because it does not include any custom code but our code added in the last update was missing. So, search by products and posts/pages works. We found that if this option of the third-party plugin is enabled ttp://prntscr.com/pjze9h
then search results are duplicated http://prntscr.com/pjzgc4 We are not sure why this plugin affects the search results but keep that option disable to avoid that issue.
