I am having major issues when activating this plugin. I’m not sure what happened because prior to now it has been working fine as I build the site out. But suddenly I got this message at the top of my dashboard area:

unction.session-start]: open(/home/206581/data/tmp/sess_10085a45d646ba1bc461c390eb68b129, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /nfs/c06/h02/mnt/94864/domains/birchandbone.com/html/wp-content/plugins/screets-chat/core/fn.init.php on line 164

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter – headers already sent (output started at /nfs/c06/h02/mnt/94864/domains/birchandbone.com/html/wp-content/plugins/screets-chat/core/fn.init.php:164) in /nfs/c06/h02/mnt/94864/domains/birchandbone.com/html/wp-content/plugins/screets-chat/core/fn.init.php on line 164

    How to resolve?

    Hello,

Please provide us with wp-admin panel and FTP credentials in Private Content to check the issue.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

The problem is that session files can’t be written in the directory /home/206581/data/tmp/. Please check with your host if permissions are set correctly to that folder.

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

Hmm I’m not sure what you are saying, nor what I am supposed to confirm with my host? There was NO issue with this plugin when I first installed. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and still this error. Since it worked the first time I dont think it has to do with my host, though if you want me to ask my host something lets be more specific.

“Please check with your host if permissions are set correctly to that folder.” What should they be? To what folder exactly? Why would this have been fine on install then suddenly not?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Please ask your host to change permissions for tmp folder to 0777. As you can see on the screenshot now the permissions are 1777:
    http://storage1.static.itmages.com/i/15/0603/h_1433348472_5769929_8d912e6126.png
“tmp” folder is located in the directory /home/206581/data/.
So your host needs to change permissions for tmp folder.

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

Is it not possible for me to modify the permissions of my own folders? Via FTP? Or do I *have* to go to my host to do this? That tends to be a time suck… Thanks.

Also why would this error NOT have appeared before and then is appearing now? What changed?

    Hello,

Do you root permissions on a server?
If so you can change permissions for tmp folder yourself.
This is related to server configuration. Perhaps your host made some changes on a server.
Please ask them to change permissions for tmp folder to 0777 instead of 1777, that is located in the directory /home/206581/data/.

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

    Hello,

I’ve checked your site and haven’t seen any warnings. Please look at the screenshot:

Because I needed to delete the plugin in order to do any work to the site, I cannot just sit awaiting replies while making no progress for my client. I can’t see what the site will actually look like with lines of warnings at top and bottom of site.

You have all credentials by now, please resolve this issue.

    Hello,

When I was trying to log into your WP Dashboard I received the following message:
“Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/home/206581/data/tmp) in Unknown on line 0”

The same error appears with default WordPress theme. It means that there is a problem from the server side. You need to solve this issue with your hosting provider.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

Sorry, no. I just logged in with no problem. There are NO error messages, there are NO other problems ANYWHERE with ANYTHING unless I *install and activate screets chat*. You guys told me to change my temp folder permissions with my host: I did that and am still having the same problem. Please stop telling me this has to do with my host. I spent a great deal of time reviewing this with my host and in the first place the 777 permission you told me to set was incorrect.

I literally just logged in with NO errors apparent.

    Hello,

We’re trying to help you in this situation but you don’t want to listen to us.
Please activate Twenty Fifteen theme and then activate Screets Chat plugin. You’ll see the same errors there too. So it’s not the theme issue, but is related to your server configuration.
We’re getting this error when plugin is activated:
“Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/home/206581/data/tmp) in Unknown on line 0”

It means session files can’t be written in “tmp” folder because it’s not permitted. This is not because of the theme, but because of the server configuration.
So please contact your host and give them full information with the list of errors. They should provide you with the solution.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

I “don’t want to listen”?! Is that the case, when thus far I have done what you’ve asked me to do?

It says above there were errors attempting to log in, that is not so. You said to change permissions of the temp folder – I did that.

So please, enlighten me: how do I not want to listen? That was unprofessional. What am I supposed to be doing/asking my host?

    Hello,

    Please take our apologies.
You need ask your host to check why session files can’t be written to the folder “tmp” according to this error:
“Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/home/206581/data/tmp) in Unknown on line 0”
Please understand that it is server configuration issue and we are not hosting support and we are not server administrators to give you direct guidance how to resolve the problem.
Just give them all errors that you’re getting when Screets Chat plugin is activated and ask them to investigate why files can’t be written in the directory /home/206581/data/tmp.

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.
