    Hello,

    We need help with XStore Instagram API integration on our Finnish store balticboatnet.fi.

    Environment:

    * XStore version 9.7.3
    * XStore Control Panel → API Integrations → Instagram Accounts
    * Instagram account: balticboatnet.fi
    * Account type: Business

    We followed your documentation:
    https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/xstore-features/instagram-api-token/

    However, our Meta app does not match the setup shown in your guide.

    According to your documentation, in:

    Instagram → API setup with Instagram login

    we should see:

    Step 1: Generate access tokens
    with button:
    Add account

    We should also see:

    * Instagram app name
    * Instagram app ID

    In our actual Meta app:

    * Step 1 “Generate access tokens” is completely missing
    * “Add account” button is missing
    * Instagram app name is empty
    * Instagram app ID is empty

    Only webhook configuration (Step 2) is visible.

    We created the app, added Instagram API, added permissions, connected the Instagram Business account, and accepted Instagram tester access, but the Meta screen still does not match your documentation.

    We were able to generate a token only through Graph API Explorer, but that token is temporary and expires, so it is not a valid permanent solution for XStore.

    Questions:

    1. Why is the “Generate access tokens / Add account” section missing in our Meta app?
    2. Why are Instagram app name and Instagram app ID empty?
    3. How should we create the correct permanent production token for XStore in this situation?

    We are attaching:

    1. Screenshot from your documentation
    2. Screenshot from our actual Meta app showing the missing token generation section

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

    Hello, Indrek,

    Thank you for contacting us and for providing detailed information about your issue with the XStore Instagram API integration on your Finnish store balticboatnet.fi.

    Please check the following:

    1. Ensure that your Meta app is set to Live mode (not in Development mode). Some options, including token generation, may not appear while the app is in Development mode.
    2. Confirm that the Instagram Basic Display and Instagram Graph API products are both added to your app and properly configured.
    3. Verify that your Instagram account is correctly connected to a Facebook Page and that the Page is linked to the same Business Manager account used for the app.
    4. If the “Generate access tokens” section is still missing, please try creating a new app under the Business type and repeat the integration steps from our documentation.
    5. For a permanent token, you will need to generate a long-lived access token through the Graph API and then extend it. Meta currently requires this process for production use.

    If the issue persists after these checks, please provide us with temporary admin access to your site and the Meta app details (in a private reply), so our technical team can review the configuration directly and assist you further.

    Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme’s Team

    Thank you for your reply.

    I would like to clarify one point before we proceed further.

    Our app was originally created in Development mode. At a later stage, during troubleshooting, we switched it to Live mode, but the “Generate access tokens” / “Add account” section was already missing before that.

    Could you please confirm the following:

    Should the “Generate access tokens” section and the “Add account” button be visible in a correctly configured app while it is still in Development mode, or are these options only expected to appear after switching the app to Live mode?

    This would help us determine whether the issue is related to the app mode or whether there is another configuration problem in our Meta app.

    Thank you.

    Hello, Indrek,

    According to Meta’s current Instagram API configuration, the “Add Account” or “Generate Access Token” button should not depend on whether the application is in Development or Live mode. If the Instagram product is properly configured, this option should already be available. Therefore, its absence typically indicates a configuration issue rather than a problem related to the application mode.

    Best regards,
    8Theme Team
