Hello,

1) there are no universal sizes for the images for all the clients. Image size depends on the block size where you plan to use it. For example read the WooCommerce docs about product grid images https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/fixing-blurry-product-images/

2) We use https://tinypng.com/ Very good image optimization service.
