Question about Maria grid layout for home page

Hello, I am trying to create a variation of the Maria Framed version of the home page but can’t seem to get the following layout:

http://joyinfusion.store/homepage_layout.jpg

this is the closest I can get: http://joyinfusion.store

But not matter what I do I can’t get the grid to work this way. I can’t seem to merge the two areas to make the blocks bigger.

Can you provide any kind of guidance to get this grid the way I want it?
