We are guessing that the filters and the side bar which comes as default is managed by WooCommerce (the section which appears on the left side on the shop pages on WordPress based stores)?

And if we need to customize it or anything, we would need a 3rd party plugin to customize and edit it?

Enable the Classic Widgets Panel via Theme Options > General, then go to Appearance > Widgets and you will find all available widgets that you may add to the Shop sidebar area – https://xstore.helpscoutdocs.com/article/48-widgets-custom-widget-areas
