Problem with Product Image and Facebook Share Botton

    Hi 8Theme,

    sorry to bother you but I’ve a problem with the FB share button on Single Product Pages.

    My product images are squared so when Facebook uses the featured image for sharing the product, the picture is cropped at the top and bottom.

    I tried to resolve using Yoast plugin to generate new meta tags, uploading the image I want to share: Facebook Debugger Tool reads 2 object (og) and shows only the Theme one.

    I tried also to delete the line 1231-1235 from the theme-functions.php file but it doesn’t work and the site shows a 500 page error.

    How can I fix this?

    Hello,

    Please install this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ and regenerate thumbnails. After that check your images.

    Hi Eva,

    I tried to resolve installing that plugin and regenerating thumbs but the problem remains, the image is cropped in the FB link sharing.

    With Pinterest and Twitter sharing button this problem doesn’t exists, the squared image is not cropped, but we have problems with the apostrophe in the product description, ’cause instead of the apostrophe is displayed the code ’

    the code displayed instead of the apostophe is the HTML number for the right single quotation mark.

    Hello,

    We’re sorry for a long delay.

    According to Facebook politics the images are cropped automatically to 600px * 314px.
    Non-open Graph Stories Images appear in a rectangular format. You should use a 1.91:1 image ratio, such as 600 x 314 px.
    We tried to change it but unfortunately it’s Facebook default configuration.

    Hi Eva,

    I understand but, as an alternative, there is a way to dismiss the og:image tag generated by the theme and let those created by Yoast without messing up the theme?

    In this case try to delete the code in wp-content/themes/royal/framework/theme-functions.php (lines 1243-1247).
