Next and Previous Arrows on Product Page

I would assume that the next arrow would link to the next product based on the arrangement on the category page but this is actually not the case but vice versa. How can this be corrected?

Hello,

Next and Previous products are shown by order in DB (id).

which is confusing to the user because they are not aware of the order in the database and would be expecting the order in the product category listing. Is there a fix for this?
