    Hello,

I have ROYAL – 8theme WordPress theme version 2.8 installed at staging.luckyfeetshoes.com. The theme is several versions behind and several plugins are also out of date.

There is a ROYAL child theme installed and several customizations. Some customizations seem to breaking when I update the theme. It seems that maybe some of the core coding of the theme changed between versions. Can you please help me get the staging site updated to the most recent version of the theme, so I can apply to the live site?

    Hello,

You can provide temporary Dashboard and FTP access in the Private Content area, it’s secure.
We can help you to update theme and included plugins in no time. Appropriate changes in child theme you should apply by yourself.

    Regards

    Hi There,

Thanks for the reply. I have previously tried to update the theme, but when the update occurred, it broke several customizations. So, when you help with the update, can you please be aware of these customizations. I will provide FTP and dashboard access in a private reply. When you make the changes to the staging website, please double check that the styling and functionality remain the same. You will be able to compare it to the live site: luckyfeetshoes.com If the site appears to break when you make the theme update, please revert back. Thanks.

    Hello,

We have updated theme and included plugins. Your child theme includes a number of outdated files
royal-child/woocommerce/archive-product.php version 2.0.0 is out of date. The core version is 3.4.0,
royal-child/woocommerce/checkout/thankyou.php version 2.2.0 is out of date. The core version is 3.2.0,
royal-child/woocommerce/content-single-product.php version 1.6.4 is out of date. The core version is 3.4.0,
royal-child/woocommerce/single-product/add-to-cart/simple.php version 3.0.0 is out of date. The core version is 3.4.0,
royal-child/woocommerce/single-product/add-to-cart/variable.php version 3.0.0 is out of date. The core version is 3.4.1,

Check the files of the new version and do the appropriate changes in child theme files to make them up to date. The child theme is your custom theme, so child theme update is outside the scope of our support because includes your custom code.

Also, remove the google analytics code from the home page because it causes error http://prntscr.com/k52zpr Move script to the appropriate area of the header and footer plugin settings.

    Regards

Thank you very much! After updating the staging site theme files, we seem to have lost the Search Bar and Cart areas of the header. Please see the live site: luckyfeetshoes.com and compare to the staging site that was upated:staging.luckyfeetshoes.com You will see the search bar and cart are missing on the desktop version of the site. Can you please help me get the search bar and cart icon to show up on the newly updated site? I can provide you with access to the live site dashboard and FTP, if needed. Thank you.

    Hello,

You are welcome! It’s because of changes in header structure in the new version. We have added appropriate changes to your child theme header structure. Check now.

Thank you for making that change and thanks for providing great support! The sticky header does not seem to be working on the staging.luckyfeetshoes.com. It does work on the live site luckyfeetshoes.com. Can you please help get the sticky header to function properly on the staging site? Thank you.

    Hello,

Fixed. Changes in header.php file. You have copied many files into child theme. I would recommend you to check your child theme files and compare them with the latest version files and add the necessary changes to child theme files.

Thank you so much for the help. Is it safe for me to take all the Theme files and plugin files that you edited on the staging site and add them to the live site through FTP? Thank you.

    Hello,

    You are welcome!
I think yes, and don’t forget to save Theme Options after the update. Also, make the backup of the widgets that you use on the production site because widgets could be messed up after the update and you need to move them to correct widget areas after the update. Or you can just open widgets tab and don’t close it, open widgets again after update but in the new tab and compare results – if everything is at place.

    Regards
