    Hello, @Dean,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your query regarding the management of categories on variable products.

1/ Please Navigate to WooCommerce Products:

In the WordPress admin dashboard, find and click on “WooCommerce” in the left-hand menu.

Edit or Add a Variable Product:
To add or edit a variable product, go to “Products” under the WooCommerce menu.
Either select an existing variable product by clicking on its name or add a new variable product by clicking on “Add Product.”

Configure Product as a Variable Product:
If you are adding a new product, make sure you set the product type to “Variable Product” from the product data section.

    Add Attributes:
In the product data section, select the “Attributes” tab.
Add attributes that vary between product variations. For example, if you are selling T-shirts with different colors and sizes, you might add attributes like “Color” and “Size.”

    Configure Variations:
After adding attributes, switch to the “Variations” tab.
Set up variations for each combination of attributes by clicking on “Add Variation” and configuring the options.

    Assign Categories:
In the “Product Categories” section on the right-hand side, you can assign categories to your variable product.

Check the categories you want to assign, or you can create new categories on the fly by clicking “Add New Category.”

    Save Changes:
Once you’ve added attributes, configured variations, and assigned categories, click the “Update” or “Save Changes” button to save your product.

    Repeat for Additional Products:
If you have more variable products to add or edit, repeat the above steps for each product.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage categories on variable products in your WooCommerce store.

Please read woocommerce plugin documentation here: https://woo.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/

2/ Please note that categories are typically assigned to the main product rather than to each variation. However, if you need to display variations in different categories on your shop page, you need to use additional plugins or custom code, as this functionality is not standard in WooCommerce.

If you require further assistance or have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help.

    Best Regards,
