    Hi,

I am using Electronics Mega Market theme with the demo content, I created new product categories, I changed the categories on the demo content items to these new categories, I set the Primary category to the parent category (not sure if this should be Auto?), and from the home page, if you click a category it will go to the correct Products Archive page with the Shop Sidebar widget filtered to the correct category.

My problem is if I go to Products Archive Page from ‘Shop’ on the header menu, and the behavior I want is the widget would show all categories that have a product, it currently only filters to daily deals (see image), and the search won’t find any categories that have products.

I have looked in the Products Archive in Elementor, the Shop Sidebar widget in WP, but I cannot find how to control the filter behaviour as the default for this page. Is there some custom Ajax filtering somewhere in the template?

    Hello,

Thank you for your message and for providing detailed information about your issue.

Please note that the behavior you described may be related to the default filtering settings or custom AJAX functionality. To assist you further, could you please provide temporary admin access to your site (via a secure private message) so that our technical team can check the configuration directly?

To grant WP-Admin access, please proceed to create a new user account with an administrator role through your WordPress Dashboard. Once the account is established, you may securely transmit the username and password to us via the Private Content section designated for this purpose.

    Best Regards,

    Hello @Simon,

By default, our “Filter by Product Categories” widget displays only the currently selected category when you are already on a filtered product archive page. However, if you would like to display all categories, you can use the “Product Categories” widget instead (see: https://prnt.sc/RzXKtGSXJwQo) to achieve the following result: https://prnt.sc/_cLGk50kIr52.

Additionally, you can enable the following setting: https://prnt.sc/uUR130s8SeNK to enhance the default widget, resulting in the display shown here: https://prnt.sc/aO5VORdPHmir.

We have added the suggested widget to your Shop sidebar and activated the mentioned option. Please review the result and remove the other widget if the current configuration meets your requirements.

    Best regards,

Hi, thanks, and for some reason now on the Shop page the All Categories widget seems to be working. The behaviour I wanted was when you click Shop, you land on the page as if ‘shop all’ is the default filter, and all categories are shown. It seems to be doing that now (not sure exactly what fixed it).

I am familiar with the Product Categories widget but I would prefer to use the original one from the demo on this page.

There is a new problem though, and it may be a configuration issue only. On your demo, your categories don’t have sub-categories, but I use sub categories.

On the shop page, if you click a parent categories icon from the row (example Board & Tabletop) it says there are no items, even though there is an item in sub category = Puzzles. I want it so if you click a parent you will see all sub category items, but if you clicked child you filter just to that of course. The row of icons is only displaying the parent categories so filtering needs to include subcategories, is that possible?

On the home page it seems to work, if you click Board & Tabletop icon it will take you to the shop archive page with the parent + child result. Can the Shop page work the same way?

    Hello @Simon,

We understand your main request, and it appears to be related to the specific configuration of WooCommerce categories. As mentioned in the following topic: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/products-not-showing-under-parent-category/, other customers have experienced a similar issue. Unfortunately, WooCommerce does not currently provide a dedicated solution for this case.

In simple terms, a parent category does not automatically display products from its child categories unless those products are assigned to both the parent and child categories: https://prnt.sc/50abKoq34KAd.

As a workaround, please assign your products to both the parent and child categories and check if this resolves the issue. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
