Gallery not showing for variable products – variation gallery disabled

The product gallery is no longer showing for variable products.

ie. https://www.clubchefstore.com.au/chef-uniforms/footwear/stico-non-slip-clogs/

This should have a product gallery showing below the image. It works OK on products without variations.

ie. https://www.clubchefstore.com.au/knife-brands/club-chef-classic-forged/club-chef-4-piece-classic-forged-knife-set-1/

We want gallery to work as per our other site, where variations do not affect the gallery.

ie. https://www.chef.com.au/chef-uniforms/footwear/stico-non-slip-clogs/

Hi,

Go to Theme Options > Woocommerce (Shop) > Single Product Page > Variation Gallery

Thanks – it’s was off already. Turning on doesn’t affect / fix it and neither does turning it back off. The gallery and lightbox just won’t display either way.

I basically don’t want the variations gallery – just the single overall gallery as assigned by the “Product Gallery” for each product. I don’t want the image to change when selecting a size / variation.

I’m sure that’s how it used to work – something recently (theme update?) has changed that function.

Hello,

I see that WooCommerce plugin is out of date. Could you, please, update it to latest version and provide us with FTP access to your site to check the issue in more detail?

I am holding off updating WC to v4 due to a number of plugins still confirming compatibility, so would rather not update it yet.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay in answering.
Some of additional plugins or changes in your child theme can be a reason for the problem, but the outdated version of WC is first thing that should be checked.
Could you create a staging site (full copy of the existing one) and do the update/tests there? We are theme support and are able to help in case the problem is strictly related to the theme (is independent of 3rd party plugins and additional customization in files).
Let us know the results of tests. Please note that the technicians team will be available from Monday only, due to the weekend.

OK, I have created a staging site and updated WC to latest with still the same result (no gallery for variable products).

https://www.staging1.clubchefstore.com.au/chef-uniforms/footwear/stico-non-slip-clogs/

Switching to the StoreFront theme displays the gallery as it should (see link below).

Hello,

It looks that one of the third-party plugins that you use requires the default WooCommerce gallery and slider. I have enabled support of the default WooCommerce gallery. Check now.
