Hello XStore Support Team,
We’re experiencing a translation issue with the Finnish version of our WooCommerce checkout that we cannot resolve on our own, even with WPML.
The Issue:
In Finnish language, words change form based on their grammatical context. Currently in the checkout, we have text appearing incorrectly because the theme appears to use the same translation string for two different purposes:
What’s Happening:
– The step 3 sidebar shows: “LISÄTIETOJA”
– The continue button shows: “Jatka Lisätietoja”
The Problem:
Both are grammatically incorrect in Finnish. They should be:
– Sidebar step: “LISÄTIEDOT” (basic form for titles)
– Button: “Jatka lisätietoihin” (different grammatical case required after “Continue”)
However, since both elements seem to pull from the same translation string, we cannot correct one without breaking the other.
What We’ve Tried:
– Searched through all WPML string translations
– Attempted to find separate strings for these elements
– Tried various translation overrides
– Cannot find a way to translate them independently
Impact:
This creates an unprofessional appearance and confusion for Finnish customers during checkout, potentially affecting conversions.
Environment:
– Site: https://staging.thenordicpartners.com/fi/kassa/
– Theme: XStore
– Translation method: WPML
– Language: Finnish
Could you please advise how we can resolve this? We’re open to any solution you can provide – whether it’s a theme update, custom code, or a workaround we haven’t thought of.
We’re attaching a screenshot showing exactly which elements need to be changed and what they should say.
Thank you for your assistance!
