My site ajw-veh-fittings.co.uk is running very slowly taking 10 or more seconds to bring back single product pages or login screen, etc.
Reported by several customers. I’ve cleared caches and all plugins and theme are up to date.

My hosting provider has run diagnostics with the following results,

Numerous automated requests are hitting /shop/ with large filter_brand, add-to-cart and query-string combinations.
These responses are often around 330–455 KB.
Repeated wp-cron.php requests occurred almost every second around 09:22 BST on 29 September 2026.
The et-core-plugin (XStore Core) is repeatedly generating PHP warnings for an undefined css_animation array key.

    Can you help please?

    Thank you
    Ian

    Hello, ianbarker24,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We regret to hear about the performance issues you are experiencing on your site.

Based on the diagnostics provided by your host, we recommend the following measures to enhance your site’s speed:

    1. Automated Bot Traffic: The influx of automated requests to /shop/ (including extensive filters and add-to-cart queries) is significantly impacting server resources. Implementing rate limiting or firewall rules (such as those available through Cloudflare) will help block these bots and reduce the load on your server.

    2. Frequent wp-cron.php Calls: When WP-Cron runs on every page request during high traffic periods, it can considerably slow down your site. We suggest disabling the default WP-Cron in your wp-config.php file (define(‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, true);) and setting up a proper system cron job in your hosting control panel to run every 10–15 minutes instead.

    3. PHP Warnings (et-core-plugin): To assist us in identifying the cause of the css_animation warning and to provide a solution to our development team, could you please share a link to your error log file (or paste the relevant section in a private reply)?

Once we review the log, we will be able to further investigate the issue and guide you on the next steps.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme’s Team

    Hello, ianbarker24,

Thank you for providing access and log files. We have corrected the error in the XStore Core plugin by making changes to the following file: wp-content/plugins/et-core-plugin/app/controllers/shortcodes.php. These changes will also be included in the next theme update.

    Best regards,
    8Theme’s Team
