Create Menu in Product Sidebar - by john

    I want to create a menu and filters that look very much like the menu in the widget area on this page. https://xstore.helpscoutdocs.com/article/48-widgets-custom-widget-areas IS there a tutorial that I can follow? It seems to me that I am not able to easily, without creating a menu.

    Please bear in mind that I have several hundred categories several of which have the same name in the sub categories
