Hi, I am having trouble with my Blog Featured Images not changing properly.

All the images are appearing very large. I am trying to get them to resize but it is not working.

I have set the ‘Image Sizes For Blog’ in Blog > Blog Layout to “medium”, but it doesn’t have an effect on displayed size. I have tried regenerating thumbnails but it still doesn’t seem to resize.

Additionally, I have made a test blog post where I have changed the image (from a person in a t-shirt, to an igloo). When I click ‘view post’ from the admin page, while I am logged in, I can see the change – it displays latest image. However, when I open the same URL from Google Incognito, the old image is still displayed.

Not sure what is going on. Could I please have some help?

    Hello,

Please describe in more detail the desired displaying of the blog page and provide temporary wp-admin access.
Do you use CDN? If so, you need to clear all cache to be able to see changes.

    Hi Rose,

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, clearing the cache does seem to fix content not changing. I had thought opening in Incognito would show that but apparently not the case – thanks for clarifying.

That just leaves the Featured Image remaining at maximum despite changing the settings in Blog Layout. I can’t seem to adjust this sizing in any way, if you could please let me know how that would be great. I have provided a login.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

What layout are you trying to implement? Could you, provide us with mockup?
Image size works fine but image is stretched according to theme styles to fit the block width https://gyazo.com/32df2963b4cefbc1d6b27442c21e63e9 In other case you’ll get a lot of empty space by side. If you use portrait images for the posts then maybe it would be better to use grid layout for the blog page instead of the default one http://prntscr.com/ru5ygx

    Hi Olga,

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, the issue is that a lot of the images we want to use will be in low resolution. If the images are stretched they will get quite pixellated.

I will experiment with the different blog grid layout options, but if I simply want to disable the image auto-stretch to 100%, how do I do that please? I thought that is what the Blog Layout image size option is meant to do?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

That option allows you to change the size of the images to make it suitable for the block size depending on layout you use (1, 2 or 3 columns etc).
I have added custom CSS to remove 100% width. Clean the CDN cache to apply changes.

    Hi Olga,

That’s great, thanks for your help. I think that’s exactly what I’m after.

If I may ask, what was the CSS and where/how did you add it? I looked through the different custom CSS options but couldn’t see what you added.
It would be useful for me to know in case I want to make some other small modifications.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

You are welcome. I have added custom CSS to child theme style.css
