  I’ve added four footer widgets and instead of them displaying one next to another, they are displaying on top of each other.

  Normally in any theme I’ve used I just add the widgets and they display as you would expect.

  Any ideas?

  OK, I have done it that way and it’s looking good.

  Just as feedback, that is a lot of extra work to get it to do what most themes’ footers do just by adding widgets to the footer area in the widget section.
