Billing Email address is a required field.

    Hi, I’m getting the error message above when checking out on my site. When I searched the forum, another ticket said to disable the WooPay plugin. I did that and it worked but I want to offer more options than paypal. If I can’t use WooPay, what other payment gateways are compatible with the theme?

    Hello,

    Do you mean that you would like to make the email field optional?

    You can add the following custom code to the functions.php file located in your child theme:

    
    add_filter( 'woocommerce_checkout_fields', 'make_email_field_optional' );
    function make_email_field_optional( $fields ) {
    $fields['billing']['billing_email']['required'] = false;
    return $fields;
    }
    

    This code removes the required validation from the email field.

    However, please consider the following important points:

    1. Order notifications – Without an email address, customers will not receive order confirmations, shipping updates, or password reset links if they create an account.
    2. Guest checkout issues – WooCommerce uses the email address as a unique identifier for guest orders, so removing this requirement may cause issues with order management.
    3. Alternative approaches – If you would like to collect contact information differently, you might consider:
    – Making the phone number a required field instead
    – Adding a custom field for alternative contact methods
    – Making the email field optional only for logged-in users

    No, I want the email field mandatory but I want to use other checkout options besides Paypal. I had to remove WooPayments for the checkout to even go through. Please update what other payment options will work with this theme asap. This is negatively impacting my business.

    Woo Commerce and WooPayments are set up correctly to my knowledge. I got the confirmation email from WooPayments (see link in the support section).

    When WooPay is active the email field disappears from the checkout and the transaction cannot be completed. I saw previous support tickets in the 8theme topics that said to deactivate WooPay, so I did that, but I’m still having issues.

    Please use the credentials provided in my previous topic to log into my dashboard and check it so I can accept more than PayPal. Thanks.

    Hello,

    We have just enabled WooPay and activated Test Mode.

    The checkout process is functioning properly without any issues. However, the email field is still visible.

    Could you please check this again on your end?

    Thanks. I want the email address field to be visible. It wasn’t showing up previously and wouldn’t allow checkout. I’ll verify that it’s now working properly and let you know if I have any issues.
