    hi,
    first, i want to know how to include pages in search results page?currently i can only find posts and products which i can show in my results page,i do not find any widget i can use in my search result builder to show relevant pages,so how to deal with it?
    second,i want to change the search matching algorithm so that i can get results more relevant,for example,when i search “high blood pressure”, i want to get results which include the accurate three keywords,not the results include “acupressure” or “blood circulation” etc.where i can configure it?

    Hello @josephchan,

    At this time, we have not received any requests https://www.8theme.com/roadmap/ regarding the display of searchable pages. However, if you would like to implement such a feature, it would require custom development work.

    Please note that requests involving modifications to the search functionality are not covered under Envato’s support policy.

    To ensure the work is completed efficiently and to a high standard, we recommend submitting your request to our trusted partner, WP Kraken. (see private content)

    You will receive:
    – A prompt quote and timeline
    – Turnkey implementation by a vetted team
    – A warranty for the delivered work

    Best regards,

    hi,
    i have installed Relevanssi ,but i find it does not work with our theme,when searching i always get the default results genertated by default wordpress engine,after exploring for some while i found a snippet which is as below:
    ——————————————–
    add_action(‘pre_get_posts’, function($query) {
    if ($query->is_search() && !is_admin()) {
    $query->set(‘relevanssi’, true);
    }
    });
    ——————————————–
    when i excute the above codes,i can use Relevanssi as my engine,but i want to know if there are some configurations i can do directly without using Code Snippets plugin?

    Hello @josephchan,

    You can add this code snippet directly to the “child-theme/functions.php” file without using an additional plugin such as the Code Snippets plugin. This is one of the advantages of using a child theme.

    You may also refer to the snippet provided in the following topic:
    https://www.8theme.com/topic/how-to-search-using-product-tags-within-the-live-search/#post-314298

    add_filter( 'etheme_ajax_search_products_query', function( $args ) {
        $args['relevanssi'] = true;
        return $args;
    } );

    This will enable the Relevanssi-type search functionality within our built-in search feature.

    At this time we don’t have some custom settings for Relevanssi search so, could you please clarify which specific features or options you would like our theme to include? We will review your request with our development team and consider the possibility of implementing it in future updates.

    We truly value our customers’ feedback, as it helps us improve our products.

    Hello @josephchan

    Could you please provide temporary FTP access? We will check what can be done to help you.

    For FTP access, we require the following details: FTP host, FTP username, FTP password, FTP port, and FTP encryption type. If you need assistance in creating these credentials, please reach out to your hosting provider who will guide you through the process.

    Also, please, attach what searching words you tested so we could check later to see if the search results are displaying the items.

    Kind regards, Jack Richardson

    Hello @josephchan,

    We have built and implemented the requested widget on your website. You can now view the pages in the search results here: https://prnt.sc/_L2Csv0t-2Es.
    To edit the page styles, please open the Search Results Builder: https://prnt.sc/qGiLHsP2hXYB.

    Additionally, we have added the following code snippet to your child-theme/functions.php file:
    add_filter('etheme_elementor_search_results_pages_widget', '__return_true');

    This enables the requested widget on your website without creating an unused widget for all customers, which helps to avoid slowing down the Elementor editor.

    Please note that we noticed the Relevanssi plugin prevents search results from displaying correctly, so we have temporarily disabled it.

    Kindly check the changes and let us know if everything works as expected.

    hi,
    Thank you so much for the quick turnaround on developing and implementing my request — I’m really impressed by your service! I checked the search results page, and it’s generally what I had in mind, but there are two small things I’d like to discuss:

    For the results layout, what I meant was something similar to Google’s search results — for example, showing about 10 items per page, where each item includes a website title, a page title, and a short page summary (with the summary length configurable), just like in the screenshot.

    I also wanted to ask if Relevanssi is compatible with our theme and whether it can be used as the main search engine. Since WordPress’s default search isn’t very accurate, I was thinking of using Relevanssi instead — I believe many users prefer it for better search relevance.

    Thanks again for your great support and quick response!

    Hello @josephchan,

    Could you please check it now? We have improved some settings in the widget (https://prnt.sc/n8bAAARj9VqW) and have already activated several options in your search results template.

    Regarding the optimization of the default search functionality, could you please provide us with a page or template where this search feature is used on your website? Would it be acceptable if the results of the default search directed your customers to the same search results page as the one they are redirected to from the header search?

    We would like to better understand your main objective so that we can suggest the most suitable solution.

    hi,
    thanks for your reply,about the setting of searched page results,could you add one option which is the number of pages shown in one page of results?for example i can set it to 3 or 5 so that i can get the 3 or 5 pages related with the search keywords shown in one page?

    Regarding the matching algorithm,i prefer the way Relevanssi uses,
    For example,when i search “high blood pressure”,i want the results which have the exact keyword “high” and “blood” and “pressure” instead of having “%high%” or “%blood%” or “%pressure%”;
    of course it is case insensitive;

    And for the search result ranking, I’d like the title to have the highest weight, followed by category, then tag, and finally content.

    Plugins like Relevanssi allow you to assign configurable weight values to these elements, which helps fine-tune the search results to better match my needs. As you know, the presence of a keyword in the content doesn’t necessarily mean it’s relevant to the user’s search intent, while the title, category, and tags are usually much more closely related.

    Hello @josephchan,

    The number of items displayed in the search results depends on the value set under Dashboard → Settings → Reading (https://prnt.sc/mfa3HtGL927B). As you can see, we have currently set it to display 5 items for your review.

    At present, the search results are functioning as requested:
    – When searching for the word “Music”, several pages containing this word are displayed: https://prnt.sc/e6qvGSkCgxRZ
    – When searching for the phrase “Daoist Five-Element Music”, only one page containing the entire phrase is shown: https://prnt.sc/BNdxUOP1J20_

    Unfortunately, our theme does not include functionality for prioritizing search results by title or other criteria, and we have not previously received similar requests.

    If you would like to request additional customization for the search query, please submit your request through our contact form: https://www.8theme.com/contact-us/

    Hello @josephchan,

    At the moment, it appears that there are some conflicts when displaying results from our theme’s widget while using the Relevanssi plugin. We have also noticed that there are other compatibility issues between the Elementor search results page and the mentioned plugin. The official Relevanssi plugin team has already provided some possible solutions, which you can review here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/conflicts-with-elementor-14/
    https://www.relevanssi.com/knowledge-base/elementor/

    For now, we recommend temporarily using the default search functionality of our theme. Additionally, we suggest submitting a request on our future task board (https://www.8theme.com/roadmap/) regarding compatibility with the Relevanssi plugin, so that other customers can also vote for this feature.

    Please note that we have already explored the possibility of implementing such compatibility. However, it is not a simple task and would require several hours of development time to test and achieve full integration with the plugin. We have added this task to our to-do list and will notify you once we have updates regarding the compatibility.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson
