I bought Xstore a month ago to implement a new design for this site, and was generally happy with it. I did not use the new header builder, partly because I did not know what it was and partly because of warnings about losing settings if I switched to it.

I got the design in place just the way we wanted it. A couple of days before we were going live, an Xstore update came out that I applied on the development server that took out the old header and activated the new header builder, leaving the site looking nothing like it did a few minutes before.

I did not have time to deal with that, so I backed out the theme update, restored things the way they were supposed to be, edited the version number in the theme css so no updates would get installed, and took the site live. The client was happy, and pre-Thanksgiving sales with the new design have been great.

I am circling back now to try and work with the header builder, to make the header match our design with your latest theme version. I am finding the header builder very cumbersome to use and I can’t seem to make the header look the way we need it to. I have tried using one of the header templates, but the link to the demo preview takes me to a demo page and when I see a template that matches the header layout I need, I can’t find that in the pulldown for the available templates. So I tried working through the customizations options. We don’t want our social icons on the same area as the main menu, but have them in the top bar, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to do that now. The top bar itself has lost all of the content we had in there previously, and it it not clear where to get it displaying again. And I am struggling with logo height, main menu width and alignment, and lots of little things that don’t seem to be controllable.

I don’t want to leave the theme frozen and locked out from updates, but there does not seem to be a way to get there from here. I also will not use Xstore again for future projects if I am stuck with a header builder that is not usable.

Is there no way for you to leave the old header options in the theme as an alternative to the new header builder? This really is looking like a deal breaker otherwise.

    Hello,

Take our apologies if you faced any inconvenience using our theme!
New theme updates won’t include the old header structures, unfortunately.
But if you provide us with temporary WP Dashboard access to your site we’ll be able to help you with migration to header builder and create the header exactly as you have it at this moment.

    Regards
